What about bonfantegardens?

Admittedly, I've only been to 3 of the 7 current Cedar Fair properties. Those in the State of Cedar Fair (Formerly known as 'Ohio') and KBF.

CP is my home park and I've watched the trees go "bye bye" for my whole life. It makes me cry inside.

Same goes for Dorney. Up until Hydra came along there were two sections of the park that had some nice shade- the area around Thunderhawk's turnaround and the hill leading from the original part of the park to where Hercules once stood. When Hydra was built, all those trees were removed, and the reason (from what I've been told) was to create a photo op for the cobra roll. What a waste- cutting down mature shade trees so people can take a good picture. It's that kind of mentality that drives me nuts.
I am still trying to find out what will become of Paramounts Terra Mitica in Spain. That park is right up CFs alley when it comes to tree-less environments.

wiki wiki wiki wiki...ahh shut up!
Isn't that a park that was built in/on a quarry? Or am I thinking of another park? Or lost my mind entirely?

That be the one. Talk about a terrain coaster (Magnus Colossus). Check it out:

From what I've heard, the Paramount contract to manage Terra Mitica ended in 2004. Paramount was only signed for four years. *** Edited 5/24/2006 4:29:49 PM UTC by Arson***

I can't blame a quarry for lacking trees. I can blame a park like Dorney for not having trees, since it used to be covered with them

Unless the park is Worlds of Fun, right?

Well, let's see...

No trees here.

None here either.

Definitely none here.

Not a whole lot here, either.

Looks like a pretty typical Cedar Fair park to me!

Wasn't the area around Orient Express fairly wooded? And Zambezi Zinger? Of course, since those coasters are gone, the trees are probably gone too.

Is that why Cedar Fair purchased Michigan's Adventure? There were no trees to cut down so it probably saved them a ton of time and money.

I guess they don't celebrate Arbor Day there.

And yah, I seem to remember video of ZZ that looked very woodsy.

Nah, they probably celebrate the anniversary of the formation of the local union for masons.
I'm sure there are parts of WOF that are wooded - in fact, I know so. There are fairly nice areas of Dorney, Valleyfair, and Cedar Point too (well, maybe not Dorney ;) ). But all of the Cedar Fair parks I've been to suffer from essentially the same problems. On the whole, these parks suffer from a severe lack of trees and a overabundance of concrete, woodchips, and small bushes that do little for aesthetics and nothing for shade.

Like I said earlier, Dorney has a rather nice area nestled in the middle of the Thunderhawk. There are some really nice trees (probably left over from when the area was a picnic grove) and a path with benches. It's nice to sit for a few minutes, completely surrounded by gorgeous shade trees and the sounds of a wood coaster. Too bad that's the only part of the park that really has some kind of charm.
