Well look at this!! A CP Getaway Guide!!(96 Guide)

I check my mail today and what do ya know!! A CP Getaway Guide is in my mailbox. I dont remember requesting one of these.
Maybe they kept my address from 2 years ago when I requested some material. Nice booklet by the way. The pictures in it make CP look like a destination resort. Very nice!!

Anyway, I was looking at the coupons near the back of the booklet. Are the admission discounts the best out there or do they have better offers locally? I didnt see any 2 day ticket specials which I hope are available. The rest of the coupons look pretty good when you are inside the park.

Receiving this kind of shocked me because I have never been to the park before and I live near Chicago. Have no fear, I will become a customer of them this year sometime.

My dad or mom gets one every year and so do I. They have been going to CP for a long time and I have been going for a while also. Or the fact we've gone every year as a family since the year the Mean Streak was built (My parents have been going every year longer than that) and have stayed at Hotel Breakers a few times.

yeah Chi I just got one of those in the mail over the weekend myself. It makes me really anxious to get to the park, and it actually has me thinking about spending double the $ to stay on-site. I am anxiouse to ride wicked twister. I hear that back left seat is quite a doozie. ;)

This year, the Getaway Guide absolutely SUCKS!!!. It's much, much smaller than years past.

--- It doesn't bother to list ANY campgrounds or places to stay that are within' the area (meaning more than a quarter mile from the park).
--- The coupons available are much less than in last years and years before, including none for any out-side places (such as restaurants or campgrounds)
--- Less descriptions, less ads, and overall smaller.

I'm rather disappointed with it this year. Sure, it was great to get it... but I can't read and re-read it over & over like I have previous "getaway guides" because of the lack of content.

Yeah, I just got mine too, I was kind of sorta dissapointed in the fact that Valleyfair had such a small write up ;) j/k. The map looks better then last years.

I was somewhat dissapointed in the Getaway guide (got mine yesterday), but really, it's much better still than what other parks offer. CP does a great job in making the park look as good as they possibly can, which is easily a plus. Last year marked the first time in MANY years that I didn't visit Cedarpoint (and for some reason, the summer seemed pretty bad as well, hmmm...), when I was there in 2000 I did come back with an interesting story from Hotel Breakers. I was there one night when there was an actual fire there on one of the lower floors. We were way up there though, 6th or 7th floor, so we didn't have any problems, and the fire was small anyway, but a lot of the guests seemed ticked off about it. I really didn't care, it was more than made up for with the next two days spent on all of their coasters and rides.

There is no discount for the two day ticket because it is actually cheaper this year than it has been in the past. It is only $59 for two days at Cedar Point AND Soak City this year where as it was I think $63 or so last year for just Cedar Point!

Exactly... I've noticed this year that you overall you have to do a lot less hunting for the deals, as many of them are just "out there" to begin with. I'm still pretty shocked that they're doing $89 passes via Tops grocery stores, but then again, the world was a little distracted when they started their pass pre-season sale in September, so I assume sales were soft.

I was VERY happy last week to recieve mine! For some reason I recieved two the same day? Last year mine never did show up. I might use a few coupons from it, but other than that it's just going to go to my amusement park magazine collection. :)

Yeah, weren't season passes $110 last year fro CP (after all the early promotional stuff)? Now they're only $99 at the park? $11 drop is *huge* for one year!

I wonder if that "little" park to the East with their cheap, cheap passes had anything to do with it?

Nah... it's just last fall's economy. In the key September weeks following the attacks the place couldn't have scored the pass sales they wanted to. Crowds were a little thin until late October, and I have to think that their fall pass sales outweigh their spring sales. Now they're just making up for lost ground.

I received the Getaway Guide a few weeks ago. I was trying to figure out how they had my address to send it to me cause I don't have a CF season pass or anything but then I realized they may have kept my address from last year when I requested something. I am excited to get something from any park so I enjoyed looking at it.

I was actually kinda upset to get it just now because I had requested information months ago and all they sent we was that Northern Ohio guidebook thingy with all the coupons in it. I wonder if they had a late printing. You would think they would have had these things out well before the parks opening weekend.

I got my guide at least a month ago and I saw my first CP commercial on TV tonight for this season. They don't show enough of WT.
