Well, a *bit* late, but please, drop your weapons!

Yes, that IS what we call "good form".

But for some of our newer members, this is their first web forum, and they may not understand the *niceties* of netiquette....I wasn't BORN Miss Manners, ya know...;). This is by NO means directed at anyone in particualr, just that I think folks may be getting a little *trigger-happy* what with the off-season and all.....let's be polite, yet direct, and get the newbies all trained up so they can become responsible members of the forum COMMUNITY.

If we just put them in solitary for the slightest infraction, we're gonna need to build a lot of prisons FAST...;)

Thanks, now please return to your regularly scheduled discussion of all things amusement-related....

Aiight, I'll be polite.... AT FIRST. But if n00bs choose to insult me after I politely attempt to steer them in the right direction (as just happened 20 minutes ago), all bets are off. ;)

God. I just made one little post about Cedar Point, and you all blow this way out of proportion. I came to this site to find answers about roller coasters. I realize it's a community, but why do you have to be so picky about what people put on their posts? Give me a break. If I made one little post about Cedar Point that was already posted 3 months ago, how is THAT worse than THIS post which is totally irrelevant to roller coasters all together?

Geeze... I must be getting mellow with age. I've seen several topics around here lately by new posters (and some by old posters) that make me want to go off on them or make some smart comment. However, after I've started typing my response, I just look at it and say "Nah... why even bother" and hit the BACK button on my computer.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

Hey, like Den said, all bets MAY come off (along with the "kid gloves", lol). No, this wasn't actually AIMED at you, it WAS steered to the "regulars" who are tackling when we're supposed to be playing FLAG football. This thread was posted specifically in the "Suggestions" page in an ATTEMPT (apparently failing) to try and keep the discourse at a more civil level. Perhaps that is lost on some, but I'll keep trying...mom always said persistence was my greatest attribute...that and my humility...

edit: Den, no blood, no foul....ref says "play on"....

well why cant everyone be friendly everyone here was a newbie at onetime. theirs enought hate and crap in the world why not try making friends. i like comming here becasue theirs other coaster fans but comeon be friendly and welcome some of the newbies.
That's what I'm saying!
Everyone was a newbie, but not everyone posted 17 times on his first day to tell all the established community members what idiots they are. For that matter, everyone should own a dictionary and a Chicago Manual of Style. Capitalization, punctuation, and attempting to spell properly would also be steps in the right direction.

In fact, some of this is such blatant trolling that I'm half tempted to wonder who is playing such a marvelous prank.

I couldn't have said it better, Mark. There is nothing more frustrating than Buzzer X, who posts with horrible grammer and punctuation, and then turns around and blasts anybody who suggests he/she at least attempts to make sense.

Ignoring the idiots works pretty well most of the time.

Exactly. Don't feed the trolls. Ignore them and they'll be dealt with.

"Trolls", certainly.....don't respond to Myra (the Alien, go ahead and talk with Myra Breckenridge all you want). But I was more talking about the "n00bs", as Den so eloquently called them. The world of difference IMO is between someone who doesn't know better (YET), and those who really are JUST trying to annoy the rest of us....

P.S. Changing SN's will not save the real trolls from being thrown over the side of the bridge...;)

I thought about implementing a waiting period, kinda like for guns: Your account only becomes active a week after you register. This will prevent banees from just making new accounts, and will let n00bs get a feel for the community before they post.

Of course, (and this is probably the more convincing side of the argument) this will also scare away new posters who actually contribute to the discussion with their first posts, and also probably lower club membership.

Just a thought.

We'll just wait and see if that's true...

.............Yes, rollergator: It's true!

That's right, CedarPointNut, I mean SeederPoint.....none of us know that's who you really are, SeederPoint. But, at least you didn't sign up as CedarPointNut again.

I suppose I could be wrong, but I guess you could be someone else with the same birthday and email adderss as CPnonuts.

Peabody, you are quite the detective. You've "outed" several people over the years.

I try to be nice! :) But I just can't help myself with this freak!

I suppose I'm most proud of exposing the fellow who was posing as me a year or so ago. Maiching my track record exactly, when I would add a new coaster to my website he would add it to his track record......my favorite was how he would talk about riding the coasters in "Tokeo" (sic). He also raved about the helixes on SD2K! (There are none!)

Shall we start taking bets on how long it takes SeederPoint/CPnut to get booted this time? :)

Brilliant tactic! After everyone figured out who you were, you changed your profile info!

Do you still like pancakes?

Read "The Simpsons" in the RCT forum. That should sum up pretty much everything. Also, Peabody, please don't call me a freak. It's just plain mean.
