Weird news about X

I don't know if you have seen the video of it or not at the website (http://sixflags.com/magicmountain) but it shows you leaving the station BACKWARDS! does anyone know if it will do a front or backflip right before the 90 degree drop?

X - Xperience the Xtreme - It breaks all the rules!
Supposedly, you'll take the first drop face first.

Unless one of these is scheduled to be built in the Midwest next year, I' think I'll be planning a trip to California !

Is Magic Mountain open year round ?
Yes X is going to totally mind blowing IMHO, X will indeed leave the station backwards, once at the top of the lift the seats will begin to rotate.Once you start to drop you will be dropping with you heads pointed towards the ground, the seats on X will continue to flip you over so your're facing face down while dropping.X will continue to drop you face down from 200 feet at a almost vertical 88.5 degrees, from there on your ride on X will be a fast flying, twisting, flipping, frenzy into the 4th demension
Just you saying that gives me chills.
I hope a park around the midwest gets one of those!

O yea, next year my dad said were going to Cali. :)

If you leave the station facing backward, that means turning over to face forward puts you head down. I doubt very much that's true, seeing as how even the prototype was upright facing forward.

Also when it does that, the track flips over 180 degrees like on the SLCs & you're facing forwards the right way up. It can rotate another 90 degrees forward & viola, it's in Flying Dutchman mode!

I think with the first Raven turn, you travel through the first half/half-loop backwards & the right way up. As it comes down like an Immelman, but with out the track twisting & once past the apex, the seats spin slowly from inverted backwards so that you're facing the right way.

All this is familar to me as when flying model helicopters, there is forward, backward, inverted & backward inverted flight! :)

Jeff: That prototype was one heck of a lot smaller and simpler than X will be. And like Taipan mentioned, after the raven turn, you WILL be going foreward.

I don't think the animation would have been released with THAT big of an error on it. Six Flags WANTS people to see what the ride will be doing in the animation.

Whenever it opens, I will be there opening day to give you all a TR on exactly what it does!

The trains from the prototype are exactly the same. I've got photos of both that one and the one at the announcement. Heck, I bet they're one and the same.

Does anyone know the name of the company or person that makes the videos for 6 Flags

I meant the track and overall length and complexity of the design was smaller, not the dimentions of the train. Yes, I am pretty sure that the one at the announcement and the prototype train are one in the same. It was just all "dressed up" for the occasion! However, I highly doubt that the prototype train will be an actual running train on X.

I guess we will all just have to wait and see.

Dang! X is going to be so confusing. If it leaves the station backwards that would mean that you go through the course backwards or you go forwards upside down. Then they can turn the track upside down to make you go forwards right side up.

The guys at Arrow are going to have a great time designing these things. ;)

Heres a possiblity. When in the station, the track is upside down (ala inverted coaster) with the seats right side up and facing backwards. After it leaves the station, the track does half a twist so that it is now like regular track. Also the cars rotate half a spin putting the riders right side up and facing forwards for the lift hill. Think about it - it works. Why they would do this is beyond me but who knows?

You know this coaster is really odd. I just watched the video again and realized something. For the most part, this coaster spends an equal amount of time in an inverted postion as well as a standard (on top) position. Due to the undeniable facts of reality, in one of the positions it is not possible for the cars to be upright and facing forwards. And it appears that the designers have decided that this will be the case in the standard (on top) position. Therefore the coaster really does leave the station backwards. Probably a good decision considering that I would rather travel backwards on top then in a inverted position, especially at the speeds this thing is going to be moving at.

Did Magic Mountain ever officially announce a date when "X" was suppossed to open...back in the day...

Have they announced/ guessed at an opening day yet?

thanks.
Mikey...PKI-Bound Tomorrow :)

No opening date has been set/guessed at/or hinted at yet. my guess is a late July opening if everything goes ok.

Hey Jeff, can you send me the pics you got of the X trains? coasterfreak85@hotmail.com

Why do you think they call it a 4th dimension coaster? With the ability to travel both above and below the tracks, and seats that are capable of rotating 360 degrees both forwards and backwards, riders will be able to travel in virtually ANY postion! Forwards and backwards while right side up, and forwards and backwards while upside down! Plus, all of the flying and lying positions that a flying dutchman is capable of to boot! The 4th dimension is truly the ULTIMATE roller coaster, and X will no doubt the the first of many of this type of coaster to come. It makes me VERY ANGRY that AS USUAL, Magic Mountain is getting the very first one, but hopefully the ones that follow will be bigger, better, badder, new & improved models, with new features and elements that X doesn't even have, so California's model won't be so special after all once these things start going up all over the country. It would serve the OVERSPOILED people in California right to end up with the WORST 4th dimension coaster in the world, since they're getting THREE new coasters and maybe even a FOURTH new ride while the majority of Six Flags parks are only getting ONE new coaster, if they're lucky enough to be getting ANY new rides at all, and besides that, Magic Mountain gets a record breaking ride EVERY SINGLE YEAR! Meanwhile, my home park (AstroWorld) hasn't gotten a new coaster since 1998, and as cool as it is, it's just a standard SLC clone. AstroWorld was one of the top amusement parks in the world, until Six Flags bought it, and ever since then, they have made certain that practically every other amusement park in the world outclasses it in almost every conceiveable category and then some! Yes, I know that AstroWorld has ALOT to brag about, but there's only two or three Six Flags parks in the world that are in worse shape, and it just doesn't seem fair that a park that was once so great should end up being so run of the mill! Our only consolation this year is the fact that SFOT got the Titan, and it's MUCH BETTER than Goliath! HEHEHEHEHEH

As much as it makes sense, that is not how it is working... maybe that would just be too easy. ;)
Check out this pic from twisted rails and you can see that there is no pre lift flip.
