You mean Markey bashing isn't the simple solution to making it all go away?

Homey,
I am not one to perpetuate the spreading of rumors, so I won't go on about the rumor that Mr. Markey got injured on a coaster once. And I certainly don't advocate that anyone else spread stories that they don't know to be true.
Happy Coastering!

Fortunately Caron has a vested interest, having been involved in a Ferris wheel incident years ago. But some states might not be so fortunate.

Coaster131..grow the hell up ok? Only imbeciles go around saying DUH in message board posts...[rolleyes]
Even if she used it as a "figure of speech" it would seem misleading to the reader that certain roller coasters "break necks"...
SOB is only one coaster with 2 instances..and both were "pre-exsisting" conditions..which brings me to this point..did anyone break their neck who DIDN'T have a pre-exsisting condition?
And if you knew you had this condition, why even take a chance and ride something that goes at excessive speeds..it isn't rocket science to know that a roller coaster jolts you from side to side..
It's just like saying a pregnant woman had a miscarriage because she rode a coaster and the coaster caused it.....SHE SHOULDNT EVEN BE RIDING ONE WHILE PREGNANT!
The news media is just looking for arguments and trying to stir chit up..why do you think they report on every little detail about terrorists even when it isn't prudent to anything..they like to cause havoc..they want the public to constantly worry..they tell us what is good for us..what we can't do..what we can't eat..that certain things will kill us..who cares!
Let us live our lives the way we want to and they can live theirs. Nobody is going to tell me what I should and shouldn't do.

"You at least have to tell the public that there is an inherent risk that you could suffer a serious injury, even death, by going on the attraction." Barry Novak Coaster Victim's Attorney"
Almost every park already does. On the back of all ticket stubs, it says that "The person using this ticket assumes the risk of all personal injury." At every ride there are signs warning people about certain health risks and giving them precautions about not riding. This is all that parks can do. If they posted signs at the entrance of every ride saying "You may be seriously injured or even killed while riding this ride", who in their right mind would ride? The parks do everything that they can to warn people about the dangers of rides, no matter how small the danger is. I feel for the family of the woman who died, and I know what they have gone through is not easy to deal with. HOwever, if the anuerism (sp?) had burst while she was driving they would be suing the car company, if it had happened at a sporting event they would be suing the team, etc. What I said above also applies to the individuals on SOB. If the ride says that you should not ride if you have prexisting back or neck problems, what is the park to do when you ride anywyas and then get hurt. The parks have themselves sufficiently covered.

I replyed in there feedback, maybe if enough of us give them feedback they will print a retraction or something.
I agree. This is shock journalism and completely irresponsible. CBS should be embarrassed to post a story like this without getting the scientific facts straight, not to mention correctly spelling Xcelerator. Another reason and editor needs to look for a new career: the article is dated July 19, 2002. Of course maybe CBS has someone working for them that can look into the future.:)
Seriously, they need to be bombarded by responses for publishing garbage like this. Just click feedback at the bottom of the article's page and flame away!
What is the change (or changes) they made of SOB for the 2002 season?
