Warning to anyone planning a trip to Indiana Beach

^Chiller lost its OTSRs, not its zero-g rolls. Tqaking those with lappies was one of the most exhilirating and terrifying moments I've had on any steel coaster.

The zero g rolls were removed in the last year. I think after the mod was made it opened for two days , then was SBNO for the rest of the year. the zero-g rolls were replaced by a less than stellar side bank hump.

Really? Wow, what a shame! In that case, I'm not quite as disappointed the ride was lost. With those *and* lappies, it was a truly extreme ride. With OTSRs, they were just extremely painful.

Like my trip report in the trip report forum says, my wife and I were displeased with our recent visit to IB. In all my trips there, everything has always been open, except since the week Morgan Resorts bought the place. I too, wish the Spackmans would get the park back. At lease back then it was ran right and there were people there that really cared. When i called the park last week to see if Lost Coaster And Cornball would be running. I got the answer of I don't know and got hung up on. Classy.

^ We ran into some difficulty calling the park, but I don't know that it was related to asking about closed rides. Once we got to a person who could actually answer a question about rides operating, we got a straightforward answer.

From calling the number on the website and asking about whether Cornball would be running that weekend, we got transferred to some accounting firm in New York. They tried to transfer us back, to another confused person. I believe the third time was a charm. I also noticed that the phone number on their facebook page is different from the one on their website, but we didn't try that one. The facebook number appears to be a NASCAR RV resort in Saratoga Springs.

Wasn't Chiller's zero-g rolls taken out because of stress on the structure? Or was it because it needed less power to get through the course with the rolls removed?

I rode Chiller Robin with the zero-G roll removed. Having got to ride Chiller (Batman side) once before (out of the many times I was at the park with Chiller closed), I preferred the roll to the sideways hump thingie.

I didn't know that Chiller was only open two days during it's last year. I guess the 20-minute line up the exit ramp for Flashass was worth it after all.

I really liked Chiller. It was a great ride. I'm sure that if they could have kept it open on a regular basis, they would have. Why is it not impossible for Magic Mountain to keep Superman open or Six Flags Mid America to keep Mr' Freeze open tough?

^There was something about the stress in the wheel boogies (boogie boogie boogie boo!!!) as one reason for the heartline removal.

Interesting. I know Chiller was spotty on reliability during the late 90's and early 2000's, but by the time I moved to Jersey in 2002, it was running pretty reliably and at least 1 side (at most 1 side as well) was open just about every time I was there. It was never worth the wait unless the park was dead, but it was usually running.

Morgan operates out of New York, so it was probably their accounting department. They usually seem to forget they have an amusement park up there.

Woohoo, they finally paid up or something and got all the coasters open. Only took them a month into the season.....hopefully this won't happen next year.

Go figure it was two days after my visit.

Maybe they read CoasterBuzz... Naaaa. ;)

In what universe is Kennywood crappy?

The only two crappy things about Kennywood are the drives across town trying to get there, and the entertainment. The shows at the park have pretty much blowed in recent years. The diving shows, while featuring some pretty good acrobatics, are poorly written, dressed, and (apart from the actual diving) acted. In those respects, they're really not any better than Waldameer.

I can't believe I'm dissing these parks I love. But the truth must out.

Did I miss where we have three coasters closed?
