It was open when I was there July 4 weekend.

Well, remember that last season of the water ride's life found it on the water park side of the map and named what?...Giraffica? Something? So it was somebody's coaster-crazies idea to build that little tower to pull more water park business (with something for younger swimmers) to that side of the fence.

And there was actually a small amount of sense to that. Some year prior to that we had a big day at Splashin Safari and there was that access "tunnel" over to Pilgrims Plunge giving wet side patrons as well as dry side riders access to the ride. We only did it once as it was such a loooong trip over there that it wasn't worth it to stay or go back.

So what I'm saying is it was all a fix for poor placement of Pilgrims Plunge to begin with and well, we all know what happened after that. And now the little slides are left over there by their lonesomes. Those slides are rather site specific and built on or into a little hill there. I was told they'd like to move them over to where they belong but it would be an expensive hassle. There's plumbing, pumps, etc. which cost them a few bucks to do way over there in the first place. So for now they stay.

He's gone, right? Good.

Yeah, he builds water slides in Alabama now. Although, no new slides have been added just yet.

Just for reference, the slide complex being discussed at Holiday World/Splashin' Safari is Hyena Falls. And yes, Giraffica was the rename of the world's most disappointing water ride. I think the distance problem between Hyena Falls and the rest of the water park would be less of an issue if not for the hill between. Holiday World has some pretty dynamic topography.
