Virtual Midway has added 60 new photos of the construction at Cedar Point. Photos show that the new ride is really beginning to take shape.

Good insight about the change in track height, but to naysayers of alot of length its still October, CP did not start building MF till the season stoped, which means there is alot more to be done, just look at the amount of track and footers markings.
Mantis was supposed to be painted this year, but apparently Blue Streak needed it more since its in the very front of the park and has not been painted since 1992, before Mantis was built. Also Sunday the trims were not working on the Mantis hill, I had the best ride on it since opening season. The purple track on Wildcat threw me for a loop when I saw it friday night, very unusal for CP to change a colour scheme.

Sharpel: I AGREE the brakes did not engage for our train on the first hill of Mantis on Sunday, either. It was a great ride. I don't think the trim brakes make a damn bit of difference - my ears still got a good batting (but I kind of enjoyed it.....).
Regarding the Blue Streak repainting - I don't know if your reasoning is on the mark or not - Mantis is definitely more visible to the public, unlike Blue Streak, which is hidden mostly by the Raptor and the picnic shelters. And besides, a classic woodie need not look new. I don't think many people pay attention to the Blue Streak when looking at the Cedar Point skyline - there are a couple more impressive sights to be seen, especially these days.
