Viper At Six Flags Great America

Viper? Bad?!??! Whoever told you that has some really great drugs. It's my #1 coaster. What everyone else said here is absolutely 100 % true. Viper has it all: good speed and pacing, headchoppers, incredible air, laterals and not a brake to be found.

If you want great floating air, head for 1:3. If you want great ejector air, head to the back. But I've ridden every seat in that coaster and have always had fun; which is what I really look for in a ride.

The only time I've seen single-train operation on Viper is when the crowds are very small. My wife and I were there this past Mother's Day when it was raining slightly. We were on Viper completing a triple-ride when they decided to take a train off because the crowds were small and it was getting late.

Viper is a great coaster at SFGAm. It is one of the better wooden coasters I have riden. It is what some might say the complete package with good laterals, good airtime, and good visuals. It is not "great" at any of those things but it is good at all of these things and that makes it a great coaster.

gator - When are you going to be at SFGAm?

Oh yeah, Viper rules when it's running up to par. Unfortunately it hasn't been performing as well this year as in years past. I haven't noticed any excessive schreeching or shuffling, so I'm guessing it will "warm up" soon. The rides I got last Thursdy in the rain, however, were outstanding.

I also have to add that AE is running extremely well this year, particularly the backwards side. Where did all the airtime come from?

Viper is a fantastic coaster. Have you guys ever seen the lizards that live on that ride? ;) They are awesome! They were there all of last year and I saw them there on Sunday too. If you are looking for them, they are to the left, on a support at the bottom of the first turn, heading into the first camel back. I wonder how they got there?

Well Viper is the gem of SFGAM. It is like the cyclone but different enough for it not to be considered a clone. I love it. It is the only coaster in the world that i have never heard a bad review about in 200+. Some people even like it better than raging bull. It is my number one wooden.

gator - You are hardcore. That looks like some trip for a woodie fan: Legend, Raven, Cornball, Hoosier Hurricane, Viper, Timbers, LoCoSuMo, American Eagle (yes, American Eagle is *that* good again), Blue Streak, Beast and SOB. Color me jealous.

Drop 208- I'm one of those people. I'd pick Viper over Bull any day.

Yay! Somebody noticed them! I heard that maintenence put them up there at one time, but dont know for sure. When you ride...watch the supporting wood on your left as you approach the 3rd hill!
