Vertical Velocity, or V2 as it's called, opened at Six Flags Great America to rave reviews. One guest of the media event had 40 rides by noon.

Not the greatest ride there, but one of the best. It has a great ride, and is a great thing that I don't have to drive 6 hours to ride an impulse any more. V2 it in my top 20!

Let the bears pay the Bear Tax, I pay the Homer Tax.
I can't wait to ride it. One of my friends from school was on it last Friday, she said it was great! Thats all she could describe it as, she didn't know what else to say about it. I can't wait to ride it myself!
I havn't been on V2, but i have been on Superman Ultimate Escape at Six Flags worlds of adventure. I think its the same thing. It is definately one of my favorite rides. I like how they lock the train for a second when your pointing down. Also, the front seat is way better than the others, but the others are still fun.
I just rode V2 for the first time yesterday, and it was definitely worth the 1.5 hour wait for the front row! This coaster made it into my top 5 coaster list.
TIP:
Wait for the front seat, it's the best seat in the house.

Is it the same thing as Superman Ultimate Escape at SFWOA?
Since people rode it 40 times by noon, that must mean alot of peeps was not there. That must have been a sucky media day.
was it just my imagination or did I see the sprial tower wiggle back and forth when the train passed by? yes petie, it is the same thing as S:UE at SFWOA
Yes the towers give a bit. I have been on S:UE at SFWOA (aka SFO, GL, and anything else you want to call it). WHAT A RUSH!!! Finally after a decade, a point to point shuttle returns to my home park (Tidal Wave is doin' fantastic at SFOG for those that are wondering!).

Scale model coasters and rides.....

I just got back from SFGAm about 10 minutes ago, and saw this thread.

Folks, it was pouring, but for reasons other than that, I made a beeline after the ride straight to the 'Coasters' gift shop. I'm wearing my white V2 t-shirt as I'm typing this.

Maybe it was just the rain, and in fact, it probably was. Regardless, V2 COULD BE one of my favorite coasters (EASILY in top 5), and that's out of around 100. It's that good.

I have been on S:UE, and I like V2 better. It's faster, the brakes hold for longer, and it seems like the whips are faster.

I got there at 9:40, in time to stand in line for the park opening. The second the thing opened, EVERYONE rushed for V2. I had never seen so many people run. I did not, as I went to Batman to get the first ride of the day in the front seat. I did.

So when I finally got to V2 around 2:45, it was drizzling, and a little cold. Full queue. They closed it for 15 minutes due to a malfunction, and then for about 45 minutes due to rain. In that time, virtually all the line left, and I was left standing on the steps to the station.

After waiting for nearly two hours, I was shivering. I jumped up onto the seat (quite a leap) and held on for dear life. The height this thing reached in the driving rain astounded me, not a seat length from the plunger.

But you really do have to experience it. It's more intense than S:UE and more fun, to boot. Besides that, the queue has better scenery.

To answer your questions, V2 IS open, and Deja Vu should be open by then.

Hey guys, I just have a few things to say about this amazing ride. First of all, I got my season pass and I went to Six Flags Great America last Saturday. They said that the ride was open on Friday and then it malfunctioned and was closed for the rest of the day. When I was there they tested it at least ten times with a total of eight people on it, and let me tell you, just seeing that thing go was worth waiting for the ride. It makes the coolest sound when the LIMS are going. So tommarrow when I go again I hope tht it is open.
Hey cynic, you should have stayed at the park. In the last hour of operation everything was a walk on. I got 7 V2 rides and 6 Raging Bull rides in just over that hour. I also had a great time with some fellow enthusiests. Look for the TR tomarrow.
I agree it's amazing how many trips those enthusiasts got. I'm jealous. It's great to see this ride further west and soon those on the west coast will know the joy of an Impulse coaster.
He-l yeah man that ride is the BEST! But I still dont like the scary part of the ride when the swirl tower shakes. It gives me shivers. Same thing on Iron Wolf. The loop shakes after the trains wizzz by ! When does Deja Vu open? Is it memorial Day? I hope so!

V2 all the way Deja Vu along the way!
"Déjà Vu, the second ride, is under construction and should be up and running within months, park officials said."

I wouldn't be couinting on it people.. It helps to read the whole article... *** This post was edited by Red Garter Rob on 5/27/2001. ***
