Vertical construction begins on Superman at Great Adventure

Posted | Contributed by Chewman

Vertical construction on the new Superman themed flying coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure has finally begun. Supports for the loading station were the first things to rise. Most of the track has arrived and is on site ready to be installed. A complete update has been added to Great Adventure Source.

what on earth is that for???

Optical illusion... it is two pieces of track lying spine to spine. The camera angle makes it look like a spine with 3 rails.

Is that Rolling Thunder with new paint?

actually Shaggy, i dont think thats right...i think its actually a track piece with TWO sides; if this is going to be anything like the SFOG flyer, then the track leading into the loading station has the ability to flip over to direct the trains to one of the two loading stations. i remember seeing the SFOG flyer do that, running 3 trains between the two stations. between each train arrival, this transfer track would spin 180 degrees, thus changing the entry direction. im pretty sure that the track in that picture is for that purpose....

although, im not totally sure if this new flyer is going to have the dual station....can anyone confirm that?

Even if it was a "flippable" piece of track, the rails would go opposite directions on each side so that debunks that theory right there.
No, vacoasterfreak, you're wrong about the 2 sided track. It may have 2 sided track somewhere in there, but if you look at the second picture, you can see the same 2 separate pieces of track from the first picture. They are clearly not connected if you look at both pictures.

Here is another picture that shows those same 2 pieces of track.

Yo the track is 2 seprate pieces sorry about that one...I knwo cause i took them.....Was too cold out to take like alot of pics...But mon will be the next updat, doubt anything will new will be done(due to snow) so may push that back. Stay Tune to www.gadv.com this winter for all updats on the rise of superman

And the SFGADV station is not dual-loading... it is a single sided station.

Rolling Thunder has been painted for a while...

Rolling Thunder began getting painted at the end of the season. And just to put it in perspective as to how bright it actually looks now, you can actually see it in the dark if you go to the Winter Lights.

Sure you can paint Rolling Thunder, but will they please make the sqealing stop? I was highly disappointed that Evolution might not be removed afterall (rumor). I've never once seen it run, except on the America's Greatest Video. Lastly what coaster is Meuda? Sure you can brag that you have exclusive rights to the construction, but it always helps to proofread what you post. Look at your own post above for an example.

Ya but when you are in a rush you are in a rush.....What is your problem anyways?
whoa whoa whoa whoa chill out intamin fan, what's up with criticizing the guys spelling? but while we're on the subject, since you are the master at proof-reading,

dictionary.com"No entry found for afterall"

lol, and "sqealing"??????

Im just wondering about the sfgram superman, are they running behind schedule or are they goin to start first thing in march. I haven't seen any big updates on sfgram new ride and was wondering if anyone knew anything. Now that sfgadv. already started vertical const.

If you ask me, you can ignore the fact that Evolution almost never runs, because it's an awful ride even when it works. I had the unfortunate privelage of riding this POS, and I have to say that it was the most uncomfortable feeling of my life. I don't mean that it was necessarialy rough, I like rough, intense rides. I like Rolling Thunder; I like Top Spin; I like Chaos, etc. However, Evolution was just plain awful. It was intense, just uncomfortable. I had this gross, queasy feeling and I just wanted it to end. I've vowed never to return to such a ride again and I'm going to be so happy to this waste of metal go. Hopefully they'll melt it down into something more useful. Perhaps I giant steel cube; that would be far more beneficial to society and a lot more fun.

They have to do ground work don't they? Since they have shockwave's footers in. They might get ride of those than put in the Superman one. But you can't forget that gadv's open before sfgam so thats why they started earlier. Sfgam could start in January or February because it takes at least a 4 months to build.
As far as the question of 2 stations that keeps popping up, I seem to remember that a recent post stated that there will be a seperate loading and unloading area but all on one continous track thus allowing for a 3 train operation on this all too short ride..............anyone else remember this news?????
