Version 4.0

Jeff: The auto-login works GREAT! Yes, even in Lynx! It's so nice...now I can "mark all read" when I finish in the evening and have the marker "stick" when I come in with Netscape in the morning...!

And did you see the "pre" tags? That's for you, buddy... only thing is that you're still limited to 255 characters in your signature. ;) Abbreviate the coaster, eh?

Jeff, the new features are great! One question though, tell me about the "manage e-mail notification" feature. It seems to me that it duplicates some of the options in the "edit account" section. Am I missing something?

If you start a thread and check the little box to receive e-mail when someone replies, that thread will appear in the notification page. So if you start a hot thread that gets 50 posts, you can uncheck the box so you don't get more mail from additional responses. The URL actually appears in every message, too, so you don't have to hunt for it.

Jeff, I'm kinda diggin' the new features. I'm having a little difficulty because it's new to me, but I really like the 'next newest/oldest' button. Thanks and Kudos.

...and you can even chop off parts of the quote that are not applicable too!

Great job on the new version, except there is no reply feature for the news and rumors sections. How hard would that be to do, maybe a update for a later version.

Jeff.. Here's an idea for a new feature.. When you click on coasters, and you already have the sort by state, or alpha, can you also have a sort by manufacturer and/or ride type?

All that's planned for the redesign. Stay tuned.

RCDB's going to have another rival, eh?

Speaking of the Roller Coaster Database, might anyone know when they added out-of-North American coasters?

Shortly after we said that we were catching up... ;)

Seriously though, I don't think we're a rival of RCDB. What he's got on the back end of that thing is way more slick than what I can do. We have a database so you can build your track record, and if you don't see it, you can contribute it.

However, like I said in ACE News, I want CoasterBuzz to be every enthusiast's home page! I don't claim to have everything here, but I sure bet I can get you to someone who does have it!

I fully realize CoasterBuzz and RCDB aren't in direct competition. If I want news, rumours, or discussion, there's no way I'm going to RCDB. However, to be fair, I will say that if I need information on a coaster, I usually head there first, most likely just by force of habit.

But! By the way this site is growing, who knows what could happen...

(By damn, I can't wait to see what goes down with the redesign.)

Oh yes... I'm pretty energized. The actual design is ready. Now it's just a matter of porting stuff over and adding the many improvements that have been suggested over the last year or so.

Some of the mods have seen the design. Hopefully they can vouch for me.

Kudos Jeff, on version 4.0, I really like the overall feel to it, and the "Next Oldest", "Next Newest" options, beats going back to th the topic list every time. One comment though, is that maybe these two links are too dynamic,

As an example, I was reading thread "A", wrote a reply to thread "A", then went on to thread "B", and then thread "C". Well while I was reading thread "C", someone else wrote a reply to thread "A", so when I pressed "Next" instead of going on to thread "D", it went back to thread "A", then to "B", etc.....
