Vekoma has their hydraulic launch !

Did anybody else notice that unlike the Intamin hydraulic launches, the Vekoma doesn't use a sled but instead a pusher car? I can see this being less problematic for them, given the history of TTD's heat issues on the sled.
looks like something disney would put in.

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

OTKRs!!!

Tricktrack has coined a new (and awesome) coaster term...

LOL,I guess with this one it's not the headbanging you've gotta worry about...instead it's the kidney banging.
why does the catwalk go so far up the first hill?
^If the launch fails or is e-stopped the train will probably stop halfway up the hill.
On some of the construction pix you could see the train sitting there.
Vekoma's Rock 'N' Roller Coaster/Superman rides also use a pusher car -- it's not new technology for them.

Please excuse my ignorance if you may, but aren't both of those coasters LIM/LSM?

What I'm asking is what is a pusher car needed for on LIM/LSM's like Rock'N and Superman? *** Edited 7/18/2004 11:35:02 PM UTC by one sided soldier***

^I believe the pusher car is pushed by the LIM/LSMs instead of the train being pushed directly. I'm guessing that was the easiest way to do it with those trains and track style.
John,

I saw that as well. I always wondered why Intamin never went with something that could push the train, like the old Anton launches for example.

Looks pretty nice. Those supports on the turn arounds towards the back are pretty cool looking.

Hopefully Vekoma hit the right spot with this one.

This new coaster looks like B&M track...
Hmmmm...

How so? B&M has the distinctive boxed spine, this is more premier like than anything, and it doesnt matter realy how origional their track design is, look at Giovanolo track to B&M or the old intamin/ shwarzkopf tracks and how similiar they used to be. I agree about the support structure and such though, overall it looks pretty nice. *** Edited 7/19/2004 2:46:46 AM UTC by P18***

All these complaints on how the track looks un-original but no one has complained on how rough this thing will be?

Edit: Oops, nevermind, missed a few... ok, alot... of posts. "Needs to RTFA"

Tommy P.

So let's imagine the possible names if this coaster makes it to the states.

1. Crotch Rocket: The Ride

2. Rice Burner Rally

3. Get a Harley Davidson theme going and the name could possibly be: Hog Heaven.

:)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

I'm not really concerned about the originality of the track. I'm concerned with the ride experience. Looks like it would be a fun ride.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

In the vein of making bad movies in decent rides:

Torque: The Ride.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I can just see the ARN&R post now:

New Vekoma Design Makes it Easier for Coaster Enthusiasts to "Get Off" on Coasters

Guesses (or facts) as to the COST of this thing? Looks like FUN, but then again I'm sure boblo will tell us how absolutely SLOW 75 kph is...;)

Actually, the capacity for this is probably even a bigger drawback than the pricetag...perhaps upcharge it like the S&S ride at Old Town?

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Wow cool,

I remember this design last year. I never thought anyone would actually buy it. Maybe itl will work oversees. I dont see it in america. People here can't even stay seated in the traditional trains.

AS far as the ride itself ...It's a new Vekoma design.

That provides little encouragement to me as far as reliability.

Are Vekoma really that bad in terms of reliability? I know that Deja Vus have been consistently poor, but I don't think their prototypes have been consistently bad - Rock 'N Roller seems reliable and - correct me if I'm wrong - opened on time.
