It’s a new look with an old friend as Snoopy and the Gang are finally coming home! Valleyfair is proud to announce it will be opening Planet Snoopy for our 2011 season. “It is a very exciting time for Valleyfair as Snoopy and his friends make our park their new home.” says Larry MacKenzie, Vice President and General Manager of Valleyfair. Planet Snoopy will be located in what is currently known as KidWorks.
Construction on Planet Snoopy will begin this fall and is anticipated to be completed in plenty of time for the opening of the park next season. Current plans for the project include an estimated 5 re-themed rides and the addition of 14 new rides and attractions. Planet Snoopy will provide fun for the whole family as well as give Valleyfair a fresh and exciting new look.
The arrival of PEANUTScharacters in the park is fitting because it was Minnesota native, Charles Schultz, who introduced the PEANUTS characters to the country in 1950. Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the others became one of the most celebrated and popular cartoon strips in history, spawning television specials, movies, toys, dolls and countless other forms of merchandise. Valleyfair considers it an honor to welcome Snoopy to make Valleyfair his new home and is looking forward to sharing him with all our guests.

Second Planet Snoopy announced for 2011, this time Dorney Park:
Well, there's a case of Camp Snoopy being ousted for (or converted to, if you like) a Planet Snoopy.
Seems the Camp Snoopy idea is passe as far as CF is concerned, Touchdown.
There is at least a third CF park getting a Planet Snoopy in 2011 (one that already has a Camp Snoopy).
^ Worlds of Fun announced theirs today, too. I can't get to their website without using a Proxy site, though, same of all the Cedar Fair "legacy" parks.
But it's on the WoF website, it's a $5 million expansion, 6 new rides. All are similar to those going into DP and Valleyfair.

If you had a Nickelodeon Universe, isn't it a big enough step down to become a Planet Snoopy? I mean, you're going to go from a Universe to a Camp? :)

I don't like the move away from Camp Snoopy either. Maybe it's just me, but I always though Planet Snoopy just sounded so much more generic, like adding the word world or land to a section of the park. It also helped with the theme, or at least seemed to at Cedar Point.
More than anywhere else, I think Valleyfair was definitely a case where Camp Snoopy would have made more sense. There still are going to be a lot of people with memories of the Camp Snoopy at Mall of America and if it's possible to use the name at Valleyfair now (I assume it is), that would have played to a lot of people's memories, especially anyone who was sad at the change at the Mall of America.

To be fair, if you step down from a universe, a planet isn't very big either. :)
Where is it written that a universe is larger than a planet? Did "Men In Black" teach us nothing? :)
"Camp" Snoopy certainly seems to hint at a more charming experience. :)
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
