V2 Rumors @ SFGA

From talking too several workers at the park the last 2 days i heard that the ride has problems with the towers swaying and the ride wont open till next year. Has anybody else heard this?? What would cause the problems??? Maybe the foundation?? Any other rumors why the ride was closed both days of fright fest??
Do you mean deja vu? V2 opened already. I havnt heard anything about any of them but wouldnt this have happened at SFWOA with superman whatever its called?

Wow, jeezy, maybe the fact that it's partially in water isn't helping things. You know, if people were smart, they wouldn't have put such sensative rides in Illinois (Deja Vu temperature). Maybe it would be better if they did some major thinking over winter and get all the kinks worked out before next season so none of this has to happen again!

I have no clue where this rumor came from.

The central computer blew a circuit, and will not have a replacement part or will not be fixed until (probably) next season.

I don't buy the towers swaying to much, it was designed that way.  What kcies13-SFGAm said sounds more beliveable.  V2 has been having problems all  year and they have been having to close it down every 15 min.  I know its got to be something with he computer wrong.
This just proves you all know nothing about the park...and whoever you talk to at the park knows nothing either.  V2 not being open has NOTHING to do with the towers swaying.  Don't ever listen to another thing you hear from whoever told you that.
arockam2, the towers ARE swaying. They were designed to. They just aren't swaying enough to cause them to tear it down!

Yes indeed, the do sway. Just like all the other rides similar to it. You can see it with your own eyes if you look at it.

Though I am very interested in seeing a conceptual drawing of v2 with the a beam in the middle.

LOL

If the towers didn't sway, they would snap.  Did you know that skyscrapers sway?  Yep....If they didn't, there would be trouble.
[sarcasm]Wow. What a great idea. I always am afraid of steel which sways. Lets add a steel beam to make it rigid, [end sarcasm] and then everybody on the ride and around the ride can die when it snaps off and falls on them! YAY! Not...

The reason I heard the ride is closed is something to do with the motors. I heard one of the motors burnt out and they are going to have to wait until next season to repair it.

I dont care if it sways. As long as I can ride it and not die, Ill be glad to take a few rides. ;)
Its not the motors "burning out" either :-)
This is a fairly pointless conversation...nobody has any facts here...kind of like the speculation around why Deja Vu took so long to open.  The ironic thing here is that Great America has opened up both coasters in the same year, but never were they open at the same time.
Its funny how both V2's have problems, and SUE almost never had problems... Why is that?

i meant they aren't swaying to the point where they'd close the ride, i didnt' mean they weren't swayin at all. if it didn't sway it might fall, duh.
i know exactly what is wrong with v2 but i can't tell u that much info. its confidential! so i do know what i'm talkin about.
*knows*
Well, they do keep telling us that the motors can't warm up due to the sub 55 degree weather we've been getting, which makes a little bit of sense when you think about it...

Oh, and by the way... Deja Vu. Open yesterday, I rode, I loved, I talked to the crowd control person there. When I asked about the delay, I didn't expect to get anything I really believed, but her answer was that they built some of the track backwards, and had to send away for new parts, but by then the company [Vekoma] was bankrupt, so it took longer than expected...

Whatever you want to believe, I'm just saying... :)

Whatever she told you about DV is ridiculous...and this is a V2 thread, not DV.
