V2 at SFGreat America

When I was there on the 30th, when the train came back from the last launch forward the computer releases the brake pads and they slowly come down from the track and thats what stops the train. Well they didn't go up when they launched the train and it stopped when It was launched.

Thanks for giving us a great 26 Seasons!

Just to let all of you know that today V2 is back up and running great. The "brake problem" that was mentioned is a common breakdown for V2 if i remember correctly. I've seen it do this many times.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thank You for challenging TOS: The Ride. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day, here at SFCB.

I hope that they would run it half and half but i dont think it will happen. I know that it has been closed for a while but i think their removing the first half to fix a LIM stater.

Have you ever been to SFGAm and seen Deja Vu closed? If you have then go again and it WILL BE DEJA VU!

Sorry I couldn't hear you, The voices in my head are drowning you out.

You are right SFGA 2001, there ARE stress fractures. The entire ride must be inspected before it operates again.

these stress fractures you speak of.... are they on the train (wheel assembiles, etc.) or the track welds?

someone said Wicked Twister is being rewelded every night at the highest support points....

All these silly rumors really make me giggle.

didnt V:TBC have 1/2 its seats missing when it first opened so the could be doing something like that to reduce the strees on the track, but the only reason why V:TBC had 1/2 missing was because the couldnt get the lims work right or something. I dont know whats up but just a guess

Wow, that weld must be really weak by now, being reheated like that every night. Otherwise, it must be made of some top-secret super-strong high heat resistant steel.

The reason why V:TBC had some of the seats removed for the first few months of operation was to save weight as well as a problem with getting the LIMs to function at full power.

Back on topic: it's really too bad that the impulse coasters are having all these structural problems,I'm sure that intamin have calculated just how much weight the track can hold when they first created the design, but still anything can happen.

Again, can anyone else confirm V2 was up today?

v2 was running 8/4 with all the seats facing forward.
The welding on WT is rather obvious. I think there may be some problems with teh impules that were totally unforseen by Intamin. Just too many cooincidences with things this year.

The Beast and Night, They go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly

I was there on saturday and it was running for most of the day. The line was horrendous, but it was the best Impulse ride i've had to date. I seriously thought we were going straight off the front spiral! And the view over the water from the front seat is terrifying!

I too noticed the weird welding, both on this V2 and WT that wasn't on S:UE. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to affect the ride.

I rode V2 yesterday as well. Got there in the morning and didn't wait too long, the crew was dispatching very quickly (take that SFWoA!). Sure the train isn't going all the way to the top (maybe six to eight feet shy of last year) but it's so much more dependable, and honestly, you can't tell any difference in ride. We rode in row 13 and the back spike is kicking arse as usual.

So yeah, point is, V2 is back up and running and as good as ever.

It tastes like burning.

I'm glad that V2 is open again. I love the back spike, the hold is awesome.
Aww... Thanks Joe!
Kind of off topic, but does anyone know how long the stations, straight track, and turn up to verticle track is all together. In short, how long of an area does it take up total? Just wondering, though a few of you here on the board may know why I am curious. ;)

I was just there today and I noticed some black padding behind each seat that wasn't there a couple weeks ago. Perhaps they were adding this padding?
JoNoJ, there has always been padding behind the seats. Check out the pics on Joyrides from last year. It's there for the poor short people who might fall forward when jumping down from the mile-high seats.
