V2 at GAm down?

Thanks for the info Andy, answers alot of questions. Probably don't frequest SFMW as much as you do, but I've yet to see V2 running on my dozens of visits this year so far. Once I saw them testing, which was probably around May, but never did open up that day, or on any of my following visits. Sounds like I need to get out there soon before it goes down again.

And that really blows about the holding break, was the best part of the original IMO. I actually saw girls come off crying it scared the crap outta them so much! The excuse I heard before for it not working was that it was weather related, which made no sense since our weather is so moderate compare to the rest of the US, and they don't seem to have these kinds of problems like our Impulse does. So your explaination makes much more sense, but a bummer nonetheless :o{

I was at the park today; V2, Deja Vu, and King Chaos are still closed.

2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando

Steel Venom @ Valleyfair! has been running fine all season so I don't know what could be the matter with V2.
The problem with V2 is that it is an Intamin product :). With all kidding aside, i'm guessing a part broke and they were waiting for it to come from overseas and they probably just got it and are testing it to make sure it is operable. And Batwing Fan, SFGAm is very un-Six Flags like. When a ride breaks down, they usually get it up and running in no time. They usually have very good operations on rides too. So don't automatically assume that the reason it is down is because it is at a Six Flags park. *** Edited 7/10/2004 5:08:48 AM UTC by Gamfan***

^^post above^^
Six Flags doesn't want their coasters to be down any more than you do. I'm sure they want to close their rides just for kicks so enthusiasts can come on here and complain and make up their own reasons as to why the ride is down. Did anyone have the ability to ask what the problem was or is this just more fun?

I thought we were talking about SFGAM's one, but for what it's worth, the Marine World one was working fine (albeit no holding brake) last weekend.

LOL! Danny!

I couldn't of said it better myself. :-D

V2 at Sfgam is now up and running!
The difference is, Tina & Danny, is what actions they choose to follow up with. Sure, they don't want it to be closed, but their maintenance practices seem to favor cost saving versus overall maintenance effectiveness.
Zero, I hardly think that Six Flags parks choose to "save money" by not having rides promptly repaired. I mean, cost saving is a pretty big deal in any business, but, having improper maintenance isn't going to save you any money in the long run and Six Flags is very much aware of that.

I wonder how everybody *knows* that Six Flags does everything in their power to make their guests unhappy. I mean, come on, if a ride breaks down or a part malfunctions, it's not their fault that they can't get it up within a week or two, they are responding as promptly as time permits, not as money permits.

Mildly amused since 2003.
Believe you me, I was on the leading front of anti-Six Flags hating last year. I still think it's lame, but in this scenario, I'm just stating the facts: Six Flags down time is in large part due to their small budgets for maintenance. They make almost no allowences for preventative maintenance. *** Edited 7/12/2004 3:59:10 AM UTC by Zero-G***

I don't think you can't just LUMP all the SF parks into one basket that way....it's been my experience that the variations within a chain are at least as great as those across chains...

I've been to parks that were poorly run - IMO, as always, within every chain (the only exception being HFEC). But I'm sure if I spent enough days in their parks I'd run across a "less than stellar" day there too.

All that being said, I will also say that I truly believe that THE single best way to reduce repair costs, increase uptime, reduce customer complaints due to ride closures, and generally make your clientele happy is by IMPROVING preventative maintenance programs so that your rides are *up and running to capacity* a maximum amount of time. It's the second most important thing OVERALL...the most important thing being your STAFF...

Final edit: Do a good job of keeping your rides running, and running well (*WA*), and have a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the rest really will be MUCH easier to handle...;)
