V2 at GAm down?

Various sources are stating that V2 has been down at Great America for the past couple of weeks. Any park goers confirm either way?

Brian, who hopes t'aint true as he ships out tomorrow afternoon.

Yes, v2 has been down for awhile. I think about a week. Dejavu was also down, but they got that up and working.
Confirmed! Both V2 and Deja Vu are not working, nor will I go back to the park until they are because that could make for some VERY long lines...

Dejavu is back up and running, it was just down for a bit. But V2 is down.

I was at the park yesterday, they were not opening V2 the entire day, but continued to test it, and it looked like it was working to me. Deja vu broke down various times throughout the day, but I did manage to get on it, though. King Chaos also was not opened yesterday.

V2 and Wicked Twister are both made by Intimen and i dont see why V2 is having so much truble and Wicked Twister is just fine. Because you rarly hear of WT being down.
Um....not so much. Both have had trouble, and both are made by Intamin (and have significant differences) *** Edited 7/9/2004 6:53:21 PM UTC by Peabody***

Does any one know if King Chaos HAS been open yet? If so, does anyone know what kind of program they are running on it? It sounds like King Chaos has been nothing but a pain in the side since bringing it in. It had a ton of problems with testing and they had to keep ordering new parts for it.

I suppose, after seeing how complicated Tomb Raider was and how Jeff Seibert was saying that everything had to be synced up just perfectly on each side, that there is the potential for a ton of problems with this ride.

Certain victory.

Very simple explanation as to why V2 is down at SFGRAM & WT at CP is still running.

V2 is at an SF park.....need I say more?

This has nothing to do with Six Flags vs Cedar Fair. You can't compare WT to V2, the only thing the same about them is the accelleration method.
That's true. THey may look similar, but are two different animals.

King Chaos has been open. Just wasn't opened yesterday.
Don't feel bad, SFMW's V2 has been down almost all this season, operated sporadically for a few hours here and there, but currently still down with no sign of opening anytime soon.

Plus the holding brake hasn't worked properly ever since the redo, if it even works at all. If you're lucky, you get a slight millisecond slide across the brake, hardly the sudden stop/grip it originally had before the redo. I love Intamin rides, but talk about a lemon!

You wonder if anyone would ever want to build another Intamin ride ever again. They've gone from great praise to the least reliable in the course of two years. They might have even taken the title from Vekoma. Of course, I can't think of any Vekoma rides that have killed people off the top of my head either.

One of the best flat rides(Shake Rattle and Roll) was down all last season. I mean that was one of the best rides (Tower of Doom get 1st thought)

FYI this is at SFEG and was last year

Sure...because this was a SFEG thread ;)

I dunno, I reckon the Deja Vus still have the least reliability title claimed - but you're right, it's getting close.

It doesn't matter what it was, evidently it is now.
I was at the park on July 4th and the 5th, Deja Vu was running very well both days and V2 was testing the second day I was there, never opened though.

Been following this one real closely because, well hoenstly, I have nothing better to do.

The ride went down in late May on a day when the brakes dropped in the middle of the cycle two or three times. It had done so once (that I was aware of) the day before.

The ride tested sporadically Thurs., 7/2 and seemed to be running fine all weekend. (Fri.-Wed.) Yesterday, 7/8, the first car was roped off, but the rest of the train was running fine.

AFAIK, the holding brake will not work in the current configuration. The train just doesn't get high enough into it for it to hold properly. Not that it matters since half the car doesn't even make it out of the pull-out. :P

So the moral of the story is:
a) Andy has too much time on his hands
b) Andy lives too close to SFMW for his own good.
c) Intamin really needs to get its act together or come up with something that's even crazier that people are willing to purchase, even though it'll be down a lot. *** Edited 7/9/2004 11:23:13 PM UTC by ApolloAndy***
