Users online glitch

Not really of utmost importance, but when I checked the users online thing at the bottom of the forum main page- I wasn't listed. I'm logged in, and I think I'm online, ;) but yet my name wasn't there... Weird. :)

I've often wondered from time to time, how to write good poetry- and make it all... Work.
ah, C'mon...you should know by now that you don't count for anything ;) LOL

When your initals are *MG*, you really should expect that kind of treatment, LOL...;)

As bASS's sig says: Emgee...don't be that guy!

Anyhow, is it possible you MIGHT have been viewing that page "cached", and not REALLY been online?

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

A while back I think Jeff made the comment that this information is updated on the server at certain intervals.

You may have simply checked prior to the most recent interval.

What he said. It's a waste of CPU time to compute that on every single request, so the value is cached and recomputed on regular intervals.

It has been improved a little for the next version in terms of speed and accuracy.

Ah! I never knew that. Thanks. Like I said, it's really not important, but I noticed it and figured I'd ask. :)

So I guess its safe to say that Moosh isn't really online ALL the time, just at the exact periodic intervals that the list is updated? ;)

Since he's *got GID* he'll probably be online less frequently....at least on weekends, ROFL!

Kinda embarrased I didn't think of Jeff having the server compute that *at regular intervals*...then again, with OUR programmers, something like it on OUR server would be done at RANDOM intervals, hehe...:)

P.S. to CoasterDad....stop by more often...:)

Gator:

I am here, just not that much to say lately.

Well, at least on the topic at hand. I visit here to stay abreast of what's up.

It's been a while since my last coaster ride (Halloween) and my next mayl be in Mexico in about two weeks.

My desk job keeps me fat and attending management classes online keeps me busy.

I am looking forward to visiting Cypress Gardens when it reopens. We need to support the little guys.

You said "abreast."

So did you, AA! ;)
