Upgrades

The thing I'd really like to see at CBuzz would be new forums. Sure, POP forums like this are cool, but Invision Boards (www.invisionpower.com) would be MUCH better...

Jeff writes POPforums. CoasterBuzz and GTTP will always use POPforums.

Considering the guy who runs CoasterBuzz (Jeff)created the POP Forums too, I doubt he's going to shell out money to someone else for their software.

So? Free isn't always better.

POP Forums are "free" to Jeff, too -- he wrote the code to begin with. Admittedly that's a LOT of his time invested, which only makes any change even less likely.

If there's a problem, he can fix it himself, not go digging into the php source written by someone else, or hoping that someone else fixes it.

MiAJon, are there any specific features to Invision that you think POP is lacking? At a glance I really don't see any "improvements". I see stuff that consistently turns OFF as many users as they attract ("avatars" and such) which Jeff has repeatedly said he's not interested in anyway...

C'mon. We want avatars, 50 different emoticons, and private messaging so the stalkers can get even closer. That way CoasterBuzz will be just like every other forum out there. (end sarcasm for those with no sense of humor)

For just $15, you can get top notch support from Invision Power. But most of the time, you can get free help on their forums. Also, what Jeff may not want, potential customers do. Just some food for thought...

I think Bigboy pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter. I can't stand all of the slow feature-bloated crap out there that distracts you from the very thing you're supposed to worry most about... the actual communication.

POP Forums was always built for me. The fact that I've sold a couple hundred licenses was just a bonus. In fact, I've been rewriting it in my spare time with no particular plans to release it at all. But aside from that, they'll be even faster than this version.

Besides, my forums don't use a toy database. ;)
