this is not a very large park considering the fact that IoA cost five times as much, so if you call a park thats the size of one island of IoA a huge investment then i say you are a little mixed up
also, the japanese market is coming near concentration, contrary to popular beief, they do not have the second highest per capita income in the world, and their population is not near that of the U.S. it is an obvious step for companies to build in what is the largest free market in the world
to #1 coaster fan:
5 billion people in one country? That's silly. China has the most population, about over 1 billion people. India comes second about 1 billion people. 5 billion people equals to half of world's population.

Kennywood is just a neighborhood from my home.
Correct me if I am wrong, but India is a underdeveloped country? Why put a major theme park in a country where disease is rampant, the population density exceeds Millions in almost every city, and transportation is scarce (except for bicycles) India is so crowded, where will they put a big park? Also, sice most people ride around on bicycles, will the parking lots consist of aisles and aisles of bicycle racks?

Vekoma: Hey! we finally got SFoG's Deja Vu open!
"where will they put a big park?"
Mindbender, are you kidding me? Just because they have a very large population doesn't mean that there aren't a few extra acres to spare. They do have suburbs and many fields where the elephants roam. Lol.
Wow... it frightens me how many stupid comments have been made in this thread about a country that few of you know anything about. Does anyone ever watch the news or read a news paper? Does anyone know what's going on outside of their house?
What a sad statement about American youth. The greatest communications medium in history at our fingertips and we're still running around in the dark.

I have an Indian friend too, Jeff, as well as Indian neighbors. Though some of the comments were stupid, don't assume that *all* of us don't know anything about India.
I clicked on the link on got something for an oil company. If they changed the top stories, is there a way to read this somewhere else on the site. Thanks
Mindbender:
1. No, its not "under developed." India has a huge upper class that has millions of dollars they would be willing to spend on amusment park type stuff. Really, just saying that tells me that you know nothing about India, so why even act like you do?
2. Disease is rampant everywhere.
3. You claim that India is crowded? Have you ever looked at a globe? Its not like the HUGE land mass that is India couldn't contain an amusment park. India is HUGE. That is why it is frequently refered to as a "sub-continent."
4. *sigh* Believe it or not, India has a huge public transportation system, and people really do drive CARS!! Who da thunk it?
5. Really, do you think Universal is just stupid? Is your ego that big that you think you are more knowledgable of India than Universal's development team?

America also has it's share of starving and homeless people, Universal isn't just doing this for the heck of it, they see potential buissiness.

Thank you for challenging The Raging Bull. We hope you enjoy the rest of you're day here at Six Flags Great America.
Exactly. Its not like universal execs were sitting around one day and one said "Hey, what the hell? Lets just blow 500 mill on a park in India just for giggles."

I think that Universal would really benefit from building the park in India because of the following:
1. Population
2. Land Area
3. Only one amusement park to compete with
4. Money, Money, Money!
only 500 million? maybe the location made it cheaper like california makes things more ecxpensive. I was thinking like 750 million but hey they have no competition. I think India is probably the best place to put a new park if they want to bring in the profit. I just hope they have some coasters unlike USH. This park could really be interesting.
Most likely its going to be a studios, just like in Hollywood and Orlando. No coasters, no drop towers. If it were to have coasters and big thrill rides it would cost more than $500 million.
I think they should build a park in the Middle East too. I think that would solve all of the problems over there.
