Underrated and Least Hyped

Great Bear is not underrated it's just a very tame invert but really smooth. One of the most underrated coasters is The Dragon Coaster at Rye Playland, NY. It is a 75 yr.old, 85ft woody that is very fun and has very good airtime, laterals, G's and everything espcially a tunnel at the middle of the ride that resembles a dragon that you go through and after coming out the tunnel straight down a 82ft drop. It is very fun not talked about a lot eighter.
Alas, that was my first real coaster when I was like 12. I remember how intimidated I was, and afterwards I thought it had to be the best coaster in the world
For those of you talking about my baby (VF's Excalibur) feel free and catch a couple of laps on this beauty of a coaster this summer and make sure you say hi to the ride ops :)

Not many would take a trip to Idaho for anything, even one of the best CCIs. IF you haven't noticed, Idaho isn't the most welcoming place to visit, and isn't exaclty your vacation destination.

Well..... I beg to differ. I think Idaho is a pretty amazing destination regardless of your race, creed, or sexuality. I have never seen anything remotely questionable about the area either. Add that to the fact that it has some of the best lakes and waterskiing around, and has a completely rainless summer, you really can't ask for more. The motel rates are cheap (because apparently nobody must go to Idaho), and the campgrounds are aplenty. If I am willing, as are many other enthusiasts, to travel to Japan or Europe, to ride coasters (or............how about Holiday World as an example?), why wouldn't people go to Silverwood to ride 2 spectacular rides? The place is only 5 hours from Seattle. Heck, you can hang out with me while you are here. I will show anyone around. AND.... I don't bite, plus my band is pretty darn good too.

BTW, I was referring to Excalibur at Valleyfair in my original post, so rock on ValleyfairFan. I am looking forward to meeting you someday fairly soon. Perhaps this summer?

Top Gun at Carowinds. I just rode it on Sunday, and it's amazing.

The word "definitely" is definitely the most misspelled word on the buzz.

I'd say your chances at seeing me at VF this summer are pretty high considering I'll be there pretty much every day of the week.

The Skyliner is great! I rode it about 20 times in a row 3 or so years ago. Yes, the airtime in the back going down the first drop is unmatched except for the double dip on Kennywood's Jack Rabbit and the second big drop on Twister. What a rush that is.

From all the posts (mine included), I think it's fair to say SFGAm's Viper takes the pick for most favorite underrated woodie.

The Riverside Cyclone may have been tamed, but it's far from being as tame as PGA's Grizzly. I found it to be full of air time last summer. The first drop is still pretty violent, but I can't imagine what it used to be like. Atleast they gave it some beautiful PTC's. The Thunderbolt didn't do anything for me.

The Swamp Fox has commanded lots of attention through the years, LOL! Up until a couple years ago, it always ranked very highly on the wood lists. I think the sign still says 7th best wood in the world or something, according to who's list I really don't care, but how many rides claim 7th best;)? That's something Six Flags would NEVER bill:p.

BUT, people are immune to the thing, the SF is a disease you must catch. While her overall performance varies, there's always at least two hardcore jolts of tossing you can have. For those who make it to Myrtle this year, if you sit in the back seat, tighten the seatbelt as much as possible, I'm not kidding, just in case, & be prepared in case you need to hold on. I think I've almost came out of there. I love the ride, they MUST "do something" to it, no joke,

I think I'll drive by FK on my way to see Rob Zombie tonight, hmmmmmm.......

I see Viper mentioned a lot on this thread and while I think it is a most excellent coaster, I do not think it is under rated or under hyped. Since joining this board about six months ago I have seen Viper brought up quite a bit. It is well deserving of it's attention though.

As far as underhyped coasters go, there is the small CCI collection at a little park in the Wisconsin Dells, Big Chief Carts and Coasters. All three coasters have a different element that makes it unique and among the better wooden coasters out there. Pegasus, being a junior coaster still has some GREAT laterals. Zeus is a wonderful out and back woodie with some good airtime and some great visuals and a nice suprise towards the end. And of course my favorite, the airtime monster, Cyclops. What else can you say about a coaster that used to close off the back rows to anyone under 18 and then just removed the back car all together. Being a tremendous airtime whore, this coaster is the total package when it comes to wood.

Well, it certainly looks as though this year's SRM involves driving NORTH after the event...lots of great parks up there, lots o' CCI's, none of which I've visited (definites include, but are not limited to...IB and SFGAm).

Yo Antuan that was my first real coaster too and I rode it when I was 12 also. I wasn't scared because then I thought woodies was not scary like steel and while going up the lift hill I got real scared and notice that we were real high and from there on airtime and head choppers. I like it better than Lightning Racer don't know how but I do.
