Ugliest Coasters/Unphotogenic Coasters?

Auscoasterman,

I generated this topic, and in doing so I must have hit the random coaster generator at RCDB a hundred times to come up with the ones I did.....it was much harder to find an ugly coaster than I thought. Most of them, either through bright colors or interesting twists or good landscaping manage to please the eye. I was pleasently suprised with this, and it made the topic more of an issue of finding the needle in a haystack rather than a listing of many eyesores.

P.S. For clarification....when I said 'unphotogenic' I meant that the coaster was difficult to photograph well. Some coasters almost anyone can picture well...i.e. Hulk or LNM...whereas some even the best photographers would admit are challenging....those are the ones I was thinking of.

I'm suprised nobody really said this one: X is as ugly as sin!

While it's one of the best coasters I've ever ridden it's really ugly. It's huge and beefy and the color scheme isn't exactly above par, if you ask me.

Even though X is "fugly" it's still uniquely photogenic. Of course you have to park your car off the side of the road in the little turnaround drive down by the raven turns, but you can get some awesome pictures of this ride. Just remember not to cross the fence because as the sign says "DANGER roller coaster cycles without warning."

Thanks for the praise on my picture, and Den, you're exactly right, I put up the money to go around the park in the helicopter, well worth it IMO.

Vater, I completely agree, I don't see how anyone can find *any* coaster ugly.. I have quite few good shots of a few of the coasters mentioned as "ugly." Any angle can make any coaster seem beautiful.

LOL. Yes, I even find kiddie coasters beautiful, as well. They're all works of art, if you ask me.

Ugly? Nahhh...

Mis-named, perhaps, but not ugly. ;)

Take a ride...

Maybe its in one of those freaky RCT scenarios where the blue is now orange? Who knows, but "orange coaster" just doesn't have the same ring to it. ;)

I don't know if you can name DT. The building is ugly, but all it needs is painted. A big 12E doesn't cut it. I do love the coaster and it being inside but dang!! It could use some landscaping also! Some trees please!!:)

Magic Mountain's Psyclone is unbearably hideous with its red-tinted wood structure.

And it isn't because of that one photo that it looks so bad. It looks just as bad in real life. I don't know, some people might like it, but it gives the entire ride a very brittle look.

That's kind of why I like the way the Psyclone looks... I think the darkness makes it intimidating (not that I've ever been on it).

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Yeah I like the look of Psyclone. Although I hear it doesn't ride as good as it looks. A perfect example of why I think all white coasters are ugly was at MA when the Corkscrew was all white and had the UGLIEST station in the world. With a little paint last year it became a decent coaster to look at in my oppinion.

I don't know how anyone can say that roller coasters are not a thing of beauty. Yeah some are harder to get pictures of then others but this does not make unphotogenic. Dueling Dragons for example is a very simple layout and easy to take pictures of if you stand in the right spots and get the right angle. I have been taking photo's of this roller coaster for over a year now and even though the layout is pushed back from the general area you can still get good shots of the trains only a couple of inches away from you another.

If you don't know a thing about rollercoasters, don't stand in line in front of me and act like you do!
