Tuesday is Cedar Fair Ride Announcement Day

What reason does a Sandusky person have to travel to KI or Vice versa and yes there is some crossover.

For the same reason that some already cross over, to go to a different park. Like was mentioned elsewhere, no one in the real world complains about close parks having the same rides like Ferris Wheels, Scramblers, etc. Heck, CP installed Wicked Twister after Geauga got theirs, and no one complained.

I mean, KI was able to take a ride that came from a few hours north and add it to their park, and I haven't seen nor heard about the Firehawk Rebellion, so I doubt the Windseeker skirmish will be that big.

Won't go into the Flyers War of the mid 2000s, though. That was pretty nasty.

I am surprised nobody picked up on the fact that with all the announcements for Cedar Fair parks in 2011, there is still a HUGE sum of money to be spent. Kinzel was quoted as saying 2011 would see roughly $80-$90 million spent in cap ex. To date only $45+ million of that has been announced. The only parks who have not revealed 2011 plans so far are Carowinds, Kings Dominion, Great America, MiA and the waterparks. Hhhhmmmmmmmmmm :)

So, around 20mill for the Windseekers, about 25 Mill for the Planet Snoopy areas. That's about half of it. If KD and Carowinds were to get Starlight Experiences, that still leaves quite a bit of money. I do know that they'll be doing some stuff at Carowinds outside of what they're getting next year, like moving forward on the Thunder Road and Pavers projects, which they confirmed early this year(I'm pretty sure Dani said more work to Thunder Road), so maybe they're really spending a large amount on Charm :).

Some of that will be infrastructure (new restrooms, etc.) Not every cap-ex is an attraction.

And trouser shops at the exit of the WindSeekers.

Those first 2 just got coasters and I don't think they are the type of parks that would do back to back coasters. Great America appears to be in limbo for it's very existence, so not likely there. MiA - I wish, but I doubt it. Thunderhawk rounds out the coaster lineup and I think it will be a very long time before we see another coaster show up there. It's properly balanced. The most we can hope for is that final stretch of midway with something like a drop tower on it. A WindSeeker might have actually been a pretty good fit there, actually. But I'm glad they don't appear to be going that direction. Nothing to look at from 300 feet up at MiA.

Maybe they'll just use some of the capex money set aside to pay down the Paramount acquisition debt.

Carowinds just got Back to Back coasters ;). Actually, they got Back to Back coasters in 1999 and 2000, then 2002, 2003, 2004 they got back to back. But they're not getting a coaster next year.

No rollercoasters next year and even with extra spent on infrastructure there is still a lot of money left over to work with. Is DK finally going to show some love somewhere new next season?

Yes, most definitely! Thunder Road is a half-completed project....completion will begin as soon as (P)Car closes up for the year. Given the relative randomness of the ride quality this year, it'll e nice to have something more predictable after GCII completes the job.

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

The only mystery remaining is which park's Dorney will get in 2022. Actually, only 2/3 of it, since I don't think Dorney is allowed to put in anything that high with the zoning restrictions.

You may expect to pay TEN or even TWENTY million dollars for these WindSeekers retail. But order FOUR WindSeekers today and you'll get all these for just FIVE million each, AND we'll throw in a free Planet Snoopy!

I don't mind Cedar Fair installing Windseeker's at so many parks at the same time. I don't get to visit all four parks in one year, like so many other CoasterBuzzers, so I'm really happy that I'll still be able to ride Windseeker when I visit Kings Island, yet again, next year. :)

Exactly. One person on a west coast board was complaining, and I wanted to reply (but I don't have an account there [that's active since he locked it but has to keep numbers up and won't actually delete my account]) and say "Seriously? Because you'll be going to any of those parks besides Knott's next year?"

Just pay separate shipping and handling.

RGB knows how they get ya! lol

Would be nice if CF would invest a few million into good ole' Geauga Lake for next year! A few new attractions would be great. That place was very busy all summer long.

It would be funny if we all of sudden found out that Six Flags was intalling Windseekers at all of their parks :) Seriously these things are becoming this decades version of Batman the Ride

1.SV 2.El Toro 3.MF 4.I-305 5.Kumba
6.STR@SFNE 7.Voyage 8.X2 9.Storm Chaser 10. Wicked Cyclone

^ But in Six Flags' defense, there aren't two B:TR's that opened the same year and a B&M invert is (debatable, I suppose) a bigger thrill ride addition than these WindSeekers are.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

I'm surprised CF hasn't done this more often - like it has been stated countless times in various threads, many of the parks attract a local fanbase, it seems like a wasted opportunity if they don't.

CF is a strange company. So many different things happen between the parks that are all part of one 'family'. It's cool that each park has its own identity etc - but you wonder how much all the separate decisions can hinder sometimes.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

I heard this on the news today. The Cedar Point swing tower will only be 300 feet tall. So I'm guessing with several parks getting this identical ride, Michigan's Adventure will get a new flowerbed that looks like a ride, and the price of parking will go up a dollar.
