Unless they got an incredibly good "bulk rate", I do have to wonder about the strategy of putting the identical rides (save for 100' at CP) at parks that are within a days drive of each other. You would think there would be some consideration for the fact that a portion of the audience at CP and Kings Island would overlap, as well as the audience of CP and Wonderland.
(And, I've been up for a LONG time and my geography skills are not kicking in but I assume Carowinds and King's Island are less than a day's drive from each other.)
But, what do I know?
Carowinds and Kings Island are almost 9 hours apart. Carowinds and Kings Dominion are about 6 hours apart. But at this point, the rumor is still going that Carowinds is getting the Starlight Spectacular treatment (Won't know till later this week).
As for overlapping markets on the KI and CP side of things, I doubt that the amount that overlaps will care. I really don't think flat ride additions matter to the GP as much as we may think they do (where have I heard that before), and again, with CP and KI both having Giant Frisbee rides, and other similiar rides, I'd say it's a non issue.
I'd say the distance is a non issue as well - unless they put high speed rail between Cincy and Sandusky - this is probably a moot point.
I haven't been to Kings Island in 2 years - Sandusky is still a home park even though Kings Island is only another hour down the road travel time wise. 3.5 to KI, 2.5 to CP.
Eh, Knotts Sky Cabin (although I will miss it), really had reached the end of it's run. Always broken waiting for parts, and no lines to speak of. Honestly, without the parashute drop, I forgot it was there.
I'm glad they are keeping the iconic "K" on this new ride.

So it looks like my prediction is correct. KI will get a 300 footer, while CP will get the 400 footer.
You're probably right, but it seems odd that KI didn't announce with the others, leaving CP to announce the big one later in the day.

I dunno, the tower in the animation looks exactly like the skytower already there (Looking at the top of the tower, it looks like the Intamin tower and has the Knott's 'K' on top) whereas the CW version's tower looks different on the top.
Sky Cabin is 225 feet, Windseeker is 301. I doubt they are chopping the top off and adding 75 feet.
Is it 225 total to the top, or, like Carowind's skytower, goes up a certain height but the tower is actuall over 300? I dunno, and it really doesn't matter because they're getting rid of the skytower and I think that sucks regardless.
This is just giving me a little six flags feel. I like to have somewhat unique rides at parks. Yeah they have same kind of flats and such so guess not a big deal. Just has a wierd feel to me. Yeah I am still unsure why KI needs one. Just got Diamondback and think they could have put money towards changing up the waterpark. So will this ride now start popping up at lots of other parks? Is it the new ride to have?
I agree, I do not like the "bulk" ride approach that much. I mean, for 99% of the people out there that does not matter, but I like when parks have unique attractions myself. These announcements are just, "blah" to me.
I would personally like if they build the old-school "parachute" ride at CP, or a play on it. More open and with little drops and dips going up an down with some nice time at the top to look around (slow spinning maybe). That would have been more appealing to me. The whole spinning aspect does not excite me much.
I am sure it will be a fun and be a hit though :)

Sky Cabin total tower height: 225'
Height the cabin reaches up the tower: 180'

I think 99% is underestimating how many people don't care.
Not picking on you specifically, but you were the last one who said it...
Enthusiasts are a peculiar bunch. If a park doesn't have a ride like a ferris wheel or merry-go-round (or a pirate ship), then you hear that "every park needs one/should have one." They put in a bunch of the same flats and you hear that parks should have more variety.
Same with ride names. You have 3 rides named "Head Spin" and it's lazy, lack of creativity, etc. but no one mentions the 82 rides named "Tilt-A-Whirl" or "Enterprise."
Anywho, just an observation. These rides seem sort-of "meh" to me, but so did the Screamin' Swings, and I love them.
Hi
I just think the ride cycle is too short compared to the spectacle. Still, this will be fun and can't wait for the Coastermania ERT!! So will singles be paired on this??
Visit the news forum for the individual announcements. In a swerve, CP gets a 300 footer as well. Apparently the Stratosoar name is not getting used...yet.
I think the rides look like fun. I don't like how all the parks are going to be the same, but like was said earlier 99% of the people don't care anyway.
Since it is Cedar Fair ride announcement day, I guess MiA is getting nothing, not even a flat ride. Oh well, at least we won't get Ocean Motion as a hand me down. We already have one of those.
Not all parks announced today. Carowinds (and KD?) are announcing later this week.
Not really trying to be a drag on the announcement but the bulk same for everybody purchase seems incredibly uncreative and uninspiring. What reason does a Sandusky person have to travel to KI or Vice versa and yes there is some crossover.
Its like, We're going to add something, Oh here well sell you four for 20 percent off.
Signs of the economy I guess
