TTD is back in business!

I was at CP yesterday, and had an opportunity to ride the ride shortly after it opened after noon. It ran great!

However, it experienced a lot of downtime the remainder of the day, and was actually probably down, as much or more than it was up. But at least it's running again sporadicaly.

BTW, the signs in the front of the park when we arrived all said the ride would be shut down yesterday as well, but obviously those were just up as a precaution in case they couldn't get the ride running again.

I'll get into more detail about the day, and TTD in my TR later on.

Take care and God bless!

Hooray! Open in time for gay day!
"Am I the only one that finds it funny that in the past week we've had 80 trillion threads about TTD being closed (and people complaining about it) but now that it seems to be open again we have one single solitary thread that isn't even 2 pages?"

In fairness, there are about 80 trillion who have been to the park and have been unable to ride this thing. There are about 20 people who have had an opportunity to get on it! We can only comment on our own experiences! Once they get this thing running consistently there will be 80 trillin messages about the ride and experience! Don't hear much about SOB breakdowns anymore! Remember how that conversation used to go! This is all part of the original operation of these machines!

Dreaded one hour drive?!?! You were kidding right? I would be absolutely thrilled to only have to drive 1 hour to go to Cedar Point! I'm an 8 hour drive away... And, I'm even more than an hour drive away from my home park!

Question. Were they running all six trains or was it still just the five?

They were running five today, and running them pretty efficiently. Stephanie and I were in a "right place, right time" situation when they started testing the ride around 11:30, so we got in line. Sure enough, there were ride ops on the next few and they opened the ride.

However, they closed the line, and announced it was "down mechanical," even as they were finishing out the people in line. My guess is they're running for awhile, then taking time to evaluate something mechanically before doing more. Perhaps they know what caused the "big failure" and are being careful to figure out how to prevent it from happening again.

And I agree... we don't need a play-by-play about the Web cam. It's a nice day, try getting some fresh air.

How is the ride running? Fun? Too short? So darn fast you're not sure what to make of it? Any air? Intense? etc...I assume this is the mother of all launches....Just wondering how the ride experience is!! Are the theming "wheels" still off this thing? Anybody know what the plan is there? Just a simple 20 questions or so!! :-)

The status report once again lists the ride as closed.

Would it matter if you knew?

Yes.
You bet it would matter! Just wanting to know if its waiting for more parts from Switzerland or just tightening some bolts or something... I'm heading out there tomorrow for a week and I've been sweating bullets that it wouldnt be up. What a tease!!!
Never plan a trip around a new attraction. It could very well lead to major dissapointment. Your better off counting on it NOT being up and running and then if it is in fact going, then you just act real surprised and happy! :)

yes coastercorey, i was kidding... i mean, if i didn't want to spend an hour driving to a park, i could always take those 45mins to get to SFWoA ;)

And i agree... it is nice to know what is wrong with the ride... i like to be informed :)

In response to the question above about the trains: they don't have any dragster theming on the back ends at all right now, at least not as of Saturday. It's just a flat area where everything used to be back there. Looks kinda' blah, but whatever they need to do to make the ride run better is good.

As for what Joey Stewart said, that really is a good way to approach new rides, especially Dragster. When I went Sat., the web site said the ride would be closed all day, and signs all over the front of the park said it would closed all day. So when it opened and I was able to ride, it was a pleasant surprise.

With how much downtime TTD experiences even when it operates all day, it'd be wise to almost plan on not riding it, then be happy if you're able to.

Take care and God bless!
