TTD getting stuck on the apex of the hill ????

From what I see is they just have a warning sign just incase that was to happen, riders don't flip out, plus I don't know if it did happen but if the winds on lake erie were to kick up suddenly then I could see it happen quite easily, esp in late august early sept when the storms tend to brew quite fierce.
I can back mark up on that one. I was in line for Corkscrew when it happened.
I am sorry to ask this, but i havent been on for a long time. What exactly is this "TTD" you are all talking about? and where can i see pictures of it?

nevermind, i just looked it up and found out what it is. Looks cool!

TTD is Top Thrill Dragster, the new coaster at CP. Look at the CP banner on the side of the screen and you'll get the rest.

This place would be be a nightmare for midgets.

Maybe if some part on the bottom of the train mysteriously broke off and jammed into the track, but that seems extremely unlikely.

There's a better chance that you're gonna roll back than stop at the top. When there's people on the train the weight is probably never gonna be distrubuted equally. It seems like the only reason the train stopped at the top instead of rolling forwards or backwards, was because there were no people in it and there was no weight difference of the front and back of the train.

------------------
A lap bar is all you need!

The only way I could see it happening is with a moderately strong, *completely* constant wind blowing against the train. As soon as you had changes in wind speed, the train would probably start moving again.
I agree with the people saying there is a low likelihood. The only way i see it getting stuck up there is if what happened to the Demon at sfgam happened on TTD.

I dont think the wheels are called up stop wheels. That doesnt sound right. Why would wheels push up and stop? I'm sure theres a different name for them.

They dont push up and stop. They stop the train from going up off the track.

Is there an anti-rollback at the top?

Booya...the upstop wheels do not push up and stop the train...they STOP the train from going UP and off the track.

Jan Frederick...No there is no anti rollback at the top of TTD...either it will go over, or it won't. (other than the exceedingly rare chance of it stopping on top) If there were anti-rollbacks, they'd need some sort of way to manually get the train over the top in the case of an "undershoot" instead of it coming back down the launch side and having to be re-launched.

I have always wondered, is it just a regular magnetic braking assembly that stops it in the case of a rollback, or is it something to do with the launching mechanism?

I hate it when "cooaster enthusiasts" put down coasters. Why can't we just have fun on all of them?

Yes; each car has two magnetic brake calipers underneath; the fins on the track are a copper alloy. The fins are dropped before the launch, and as the train clears each section of the track, the fins in that section are released to pop back up. That way, if the train comes back, the magnets on the train will 'catch' those fins and drag the train to a stop.

A VERY important piece of equipment I would imagine.

Phyter:

I agree with you except for the 9 holes in one in minature golf. That isn't at all unusual for the pros on the Professional Putters Association tour. They shoot in the high 20's all the time, and occasionally break 25.

@ CoasterMania, Monty Jasper stated that your best chances for a roll back are right in the morning. He stated that the timing computer remembers the previous launch and speed and adjusts itself based on the previous launch. If the trains sit long enough in between launches, the computer will reset itself, and you will have a higher chance for a rollback. Once TTD gets up and running consistantly, your chance for a rollback is prob. going to severly decrease. If a stop on the apex is possible, it would prob. need to be early in the morning do to this matter as well.

Why reset itself? I could understand if conditions changed (wind speed, humidity, pressure)...but just because conditions might have changed?

well, JanFrederick, I'd say 10 hours between runs would change conditions....
