Track Record

Just a quick question...

Why can't I add any coasters to my track record? It says I am "logged in" and I have re logged in and it still won't work.

thanks

You have to be a member of CoasterBuzz Club to use that feature. It costs $20 to join.

Darn. That stinks.

Not really, because with th $20 you get an ad free site, and you help support the website. I am not yet a member. But, as soon as I get money I will join. Since I last updated my track record, I have about 20 new coasters.

Hey Rob.... not to be mean, but if you wanted to join the site, wouldn't you have done it by now? Especially with 300+ posts! :) How long does it take to save up $20? LOL! I haven't joined the club yet, because I don't want to. I love this site, and I don't mind the ads. I click on the ads, and do my part that way. I will never have much use for walkbacks at Cedar Point when I live in Seattle. I admit I am a cheap, no-good A-****! ;)

Please sign my guestbook, and be mean!!!

For me..it is very hard to save up $20. I have the tendency of whenever I get money..I spend it right away. But, starting work soon for the summer. Any guesses as to where I work. (hints...summer mainly...near Chicago..). So, I will get a paycheck soon..which means money!!

20 bucks will buy you alot of things... an ad free website and a track record feature aren't things I look foward to buying with a crisp Jackson... CDs, T-Shirts, Gas, on the other hand, I do.

Now that is being cheap. You are chocking out what little revenue this website is creating by being too lazy to close a window.

If you use a pop-up killer then you're essentially stealing from me. I'm not getting the revenue that pays for you to enjoy the site.

I strongly dislike freeloaders and thieves.

Well Jeff as soon as I get $20 it will then become yours.

I payed the 20$ but nothing came from coaster buzz. And it still won't let me use the track record. Anyone know what I should do?

Do we have to be so melodramatic? Honestly Jeff, this is at least the third time I've seen you use this line. Do you really think that such a statement is really effective at changing anything? I'm sure there are a bunch more people using ad killers than actually admitt it here publically. And for those that do admitt it, I dont think they are likely to be persuaded to "cease and desist".

Do *I* personally, use an ad killer? The world may never know...:)

Besides, if we were really shutting down people we disagreed with, would Jeremy (2Hostyl) still be around? :) I think not. - Jeff 1/24/02

I really have to agree here, comparing pop-up kill users with thieves just sounds too much like that moronic run of Super Bowl ads that said people who do drugs are funding terrorism. It's a ridiculous argument and intelligent people will see it as such. I happily use a pop-up killer and it's *nothing personal*, I just don't like having to kill ads while I'm reading the content that I'm visiting for on *many sites*. I didn't get it to specifically deprive Coasterbuzz of money, I got it because it's a useful tool for reading a majority of the sites I visit on the internet, which CBuzz happens to be part of.

There's honestly not much sense in complaining about it because it's much like file sharing, program piracy and any number of other "evils" of the modern age, they exist, people who want to use them will continue to do so.

For some reason a Kurt Vonnegut comparison comes to mind as well...when Vonnegut was writing Slaughterhouse Five, his classic book on the bombing of Dresden a famous guy whose name I can't recall commented that he might as well write an anti-glaciar book. He was saying that war is as inevitable as glaciars and being "against it" is pointless. These modern "ills" I've listed above are the exact same way, you can lambast people for them all day but you'll never get anywhere.

Colin, you do your own argument a HUGE disservice by comparing the ad-killer to software and music piracy. I could ALMOST see the arguments about ad killing, but piracy costs their respective industries millions of dollars.

Why is it melodramatic? It's true. It is stealing. What if everyone did it? There would be no free Internet sites, period. I don't do it for the money, but I'm no charity either. At the very least it makes you a freeloader, with everyone else paying your way.

Honestly, if you get something out of this site, and if you're a repeat visitor I'm guessing you do, deal with the ads. If you don't want to, you can either get a club membership or just not visit the site. Just don't be a freeloader.

It's really easy for you to not think anything of it when you're not the one writing a four-digit check to Sprint every month.

I gotta agree with Jeff here. I think that people who use pop-up killers *are* freeloading. Sure the ads are annoying, but if it keeps a site free to the public, then deal with them. I certainly would be a lot more annoyed if I had to cough up money every time I went into a site I visit frequently.

As far as CoasterBuzz goes, I really get a lot out of the site, but hated the ads. So I bought a membership, killing two birds with one stone. Get rid of the ads, and support the site.

Jeff, I don't have check or credit cards, so how am I ssupposed to give you the money safely?
money order?
