Top Thrill Dragster unsafe?

I mean if you go 0-120 mph in 4 seconds, isnt that a little bit to fast? Maybe it's just me, but I have a felling someone is going to get hurt on this ride

Yeah, but only if they dont keep their head back. IM sure the ride ops will make sure your head is back for this one. Maybe they will install a head restraint for troublesome riders.... the possibilities are endless....

Give me a break. Do you think either Intamin or CF would build a coaster that was unsafe? Seriously, man. Do you think they want to face the lawsuits?

Dragster has no more acceleration than your average impulse or Premier Launcher. The little Wildcat at CP still has the strongest Gs. Besides, a coaster currently operates that launches with TWICE as much force as Dragster.

I was thinking more about being hit in the eye by a fly that fast. I don't think the accelleration is going to hurt anybody if the seats properly support you. (which I'm sure they will)
You have a better chance of getting hurt while typing on your computer than you do getting hurt riding this or any read UNLESS you have some preexisting medical condition, which hopefully you would know about.
You're right. A multi-million-dollar company has spent 3 years and $25 million planning a massive steel ride, but they probably forgot to test it to see if it's safe or not. Probably every single rider will implode as soon as their foot touches the floor of the car.

The rate of exceleration and the g-forces exerted on the rider are no greater than other lauched coasters already in existance. Four seconds is actually quite a long time...find a clock or watch and count along with it.

CP did not spend $25 million for a ride that could get them in millions of dollars worth of lawsuits.

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot 'em?

Yah I know the 4 seconds is a pretty long time, but just the fact that your going 120 MPH, I mean something hits you during the launch, your pretty much screwed, your head isnt back against the headrest (if you launch before the green light, Xcelerator does that always, and you could be getting ready to put your head against the restraint, but it's to late). I almost think Cedar Point/Intamin are begging for a lawsuit. Espically if someone happens to falloff, which is possible.
I agree with RTneedsTLC. I'm mostly worried about bugs, but CP would have had to thought of this earlier and dealt with it, right?

As fast as 120mph sounds, the launch inself won't be nearly as intense Dodonpa's 1.3 second, 107mph launch. Those numbers just scare me.

We've not nearly reached the ceiling on this, and as long as people will ride(and they will), we will see even faster launches in the near future.

Are you kidding? Or, just really ignorant?

I am not kidding, I seriously think someone will get hurt on this ride, I'm not sure how, but something just is telling me someone will. I hope to God no one does, but just something bout this ride is telling me something is going to happen. I do hope however I am wrong.
Anyone who has ridden Dodonpa care to tell me that this thing really launches that quick? It seems almost unblievable...I've heard 1.8 seconds, never 1.3 seconds, but still, 1.8? That...just insane.

Top Thrill Dragster is safe. Since you are obviously a Six Flags MM fan, I'm sure you would do anything to have your park stand alone with the record, but since you don't you're trying to scare us. Brilliant tactic, I say, brilliant.

Geez....With that comment, I would almost think you *want* something to happen. *Rollin Eyes*

Darn right it's unsafe....you'd better not ride it...;)
If they had Nitro's lap bars, it would probably be ok, because the lap baon Nitro is pretty heavy, i think.

Believing is seeing.

I feel safer with Intamin bars. I always feel like I'm going to slip out of Nitro (even though thats half the fun for me).

At this height, I would like Intamin bars better. They are also not as clunky.
