Fact is PKI has become a second class theme park. Removal of rides, detoriation of remaining rides, rather dirty queue lines, etc, does not make a world class park. Unfortunately, this is the closest park to where we live, or we would have CP season passes instead.
If you dont like PKI, stay out. Dont go. Its that easy. Less trash in the park. Less waits for me. I still consider it the best theme park. But if you consider it less than that, then like i said, dont go. There are smaller parks around there.

PKI_MAN, you are right. Who cares if a light bulb is burnt out. Who cares if a Q-line looks a little messy, I do not go to a park to look at lights and q-lines. I go to have fun.

Is that a fact? What deterioration are you talking about? I find that this year in particular the park has made great strides in guest service and overall presentation. The landscaping is beautiful, the midways are clean and they have an outstanding variety of rides.
I really don't get all this crying over the announcement and the alleged metamorphosis of the park. Old stuff goes away. That's sad, but they have to keep satisfying the audience. If you want old rides, visit Kennywood, America's finest traditional amusement park(TM).

Our family goes to a park not just to ride coasters. PKI is strong in 3 areas, coasters, kiddie rides and water park. If you are not interested in these 3 areas, the day can be pretty short. One thing notable about all the Paramount parks, what are the parents that don't like coasters supposed to do all day? Removal of things such as trains, monorails, shows definitely cut down on the family atmosphere. This park does not live up to its potential, thus not attracting as much revenue as the park on the lake for future improvements and maintenance. The crowds this year are a good indication.
If you love coasters, you think PKI is perfect. If you like a total park experience, ie, theming that works, wild rides, tame rides that all the family can enjoy together, shows, etc. this park does not live up to where it was previously.
By the way, check out this ride.

I think it's gonna be the prototype Werner Stengel was talking about a few years back.
You know the one where he told a park if you want to build it,build it next to a cemetery.
I think it was on his web site.
super7: Please do not use the word objective in your posts, it just seems to cheapen the word when it is used by you.
Super7, when exactly was the last time you visited the park? Before 1972, I'm guessing. Ever since the park opened, it was a family park where everyone could find something fun to do that would last the whole day if they wanted to.
PKI keeps their flat rides well maintained and every single one of them are at a speed when everyone can enjoy them and have fun. That's one thing the non-coaster people to do: Monster, Scrambler, Shake, Rattle, & Roll, Zephyr, Dodgem, Flying Eagles, etc. The only flat rides I remember them taking out were the Skylab, Flight Commander, and Ferris Wheels. All parks remove rides to move forward and create new things. Speaking of well-maintained at CP, does Disaster Transport ring a bell? Didn't they also remove two dark rides? Earthquake and a haunted house, I think? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Other non-coaster rides: Drop Zone, Skyflyer, Phantom Theatre, KM&MVRR, White Water Canyon, Wild Thornberries River Adventure, Congo Falls, the "biggest waterpark in the tristate" which is free(!), 7th Portal, Smash Factory, Eiffel Tower, Les Taxis,... That's a full day's fun right there. That makes me realize how ever more wrong you are about that. And most families can do all 4 of the kiddie coaster, Adventure Express, and The Racer togther as well. Not to mention TRTR coming next year.
PS-If you didn't know, PKI usually does get more revenue than that park on the lake according to attendance. I'm sure their large amount of themes and rides sell big merchandising as well. So, sorry, check your facts.
The theming and rides at the park are very well maintained and the Phantom Theatre has been restored this year to it's formal glory(showing like Jeff said about getting their act together trhis year). In all honesty, the park has found that the number of people going in to Adventure Express compared to the rest of the rides and coasters is very minimal. Even lower than The Beastie and RRR I believe. They're trying to fix the more important things that the guests will see first and then move on to the finishing touches in the park. I wish they would do a little more with the ride and theming myself, but you can't put more money out than you're going to get in for a certain thing. In this case a light bulb, which will most likely not enhance the experience nor ridership. If you disagree, contact the park. Complaining to us and not to them does absolutely nothing. Especially when the majority disagree. Sorry!
Does CP have the total park experience you're talking about? Dark rides? Yeah, DT's dark. Motion Sims? Nope. Theming? Not much. Not really. Something to do for everyone. Yeah. Am I complaining? Absolutely not. CP is a first class park. So is PKI. And if PKI wasn't a World Class park, why was a featured(along with the Premiere of the film) in England this past week where my uncle was on vacation. If you can get news of a park to outside the US. You better believe it's World class.
Oh, wait! I think I figured ot put! You went to Americana! Not PKI. When it was closed. Whew, I feel so much better now. Get the names straight.
(Sorry, I except your opinions, but I go to the park often enough to know that you're being inconsiderate and not paying attention to many factors that make the park so great)
well PKI is a PARAMOUNT park.. PAramount is a movie company.. and UNIVERSAL STUDIOS is a movie company and have theme parks..also DISNEY same thing.. so why cant PKI have something like indiana jones or spiderman or MIB.. they all are movie companys so dont trip
Youre right Koaster King. I just wish people would stop whining and nitpicking stuff that is probabily low of PKIs list of things to do. They have higher priorities.

This is a bit off topic, but I was at the park today (7/5) and it was pretty crowded (the overflow parking lot by Water Works was almost full!). Anyway, when on the train, I saw a tractor on the soon to be TR:TR site tearing a couple of trees down back by KCKC`s old pump house, and another tractor was grading out the land. I can`t wait to find out more details on TR:TR and I hope that it will be a world class family ride, like the park is boasting it will be.

www.geocities.com/coastersrz I`ve riden Son of Beast 38 times!
I am a season pass holder of PKI, and have attended the park no less than 10 times this season. So i have had plenty of time to notice these things that are "not as they used to be".
Removal of flat rides--does Bayern Kurve, Flying Dutchman, Spinnen Keggers, Ferris Wheel, Rotor, Winnie Witchs Cauldrons, Zodiac, Flight Commander, Halley's Comet, Tumble Bug, Cuddle Up, Wheel of Fortune, Skylab ring a bell? Probably not if you were not alive when the park opened. Also removed Enchanted Voyage/Smurf ride, Rub-A-Dub, Barvarian Beetle, Bat, Demon, Skyride, Turnpike, Auto Livery (closed) and now Keelboat Canal. Thats quite a number of attractions compared to what was installed. True, some for better attractions, but PKI does not have a space problem.
Kings Island is a nice place to go, but not it just doesnt have the same feel as it used to. I laugh at some of this worshipping going on.
PKI takes out rides that do not have good attendence. I remember walking by Flight Commander and never seeing a line, especially after the accident. Oh and PKI doesnt have a space problem, your right super7, it has a problem that they have boxed themselves in. So they have to take some rides out.
PS. anyone else but me think that PKI might set the buildings back into the woods, and then use the space in between it and Beast as an expansion point? that could be a possibility.

Most of those rides were taken out before Paramount bought the park. Remember that most of those rides were there when the park was open. Today it would've been hard to find parts for the older rides in order to fix them. The only rides I remember being taken out by Paramount was Skylab, KCKC, and the Auto Livery. The rest were taken out before Paramount bought the park.

It could very well be that ride Werner Stengel designed. There is a cemetery at PKI;)

HurricaneGeauga- Just in case
Why should the park keep most of those flat rides? I'm sure there was good reason including loss in popularity, difficult parts to get, hard to maintain, etc. I wouldn't want a ride either that would be left SBNO most of the time. And I believe that CP has removed one of the largest amounts of coasters and rides of any park. Why don't you look up that list if you want to complain.
Ok, fine. I'll save you the trouble. Most of them are similar attractions to what PKI has removed:
http://cedarpoint.virtualave.net/lostrides/index.html
does anyone have any ideas of what PKI is doing about the Auto Livery? I know its SBNO, but what are they going to put there, or just leave it blank?

I got a call from my friend who works in the finance dept at PKI. Now he is a big coaster fan, member of ACE, etc. Now he has no inside info, but from what he has seen at work, he told me he thinks it looks like some sort of water ride. Take this with a grain of salt, it really isn't any more reliable than the Lemon Chill Guy.
