Tomb Raider IS a ride like Indiana Jones at DL.

Just going to PKI's site and reading the description and seeing a couple pics, I think this will be like Indiana Jones, which is a great thing! This also could be a ride like MIB and Scooby Doo Hauanted houses at other Paramount Parks. I think it might also have a chance of not being too major because it isn't even the main focus of PKI's web page! But this is a major building year for PKI and I know they wont let us down!

I was very, very impressed with Indiana Jones at Disneyland and doing a similar attraction themed to Tomb Raider would be great.

A good ride is a good ride, regaurdless if its a coaster or not.
I wouldn't say it's not going to be major. They've already said it's most expensive addition to the park ever.

I got an email from Jennifer Bowers stating that it will be the most heavily themed ride in the park.

And do you have any concrete evidence this is what it is?

its not gonna be like indiana jones because look at the pictures of the official drawings shown at the announcement the Buddha pic already stated by someone, looks to be some type of car. big row of people with OTS restraints and lights underneath cars. so they gave you a clue on what type of ride it may be. there are 3 choices right now from that pic. a Top Spin, a Monodial thing that PCW has, or a vertical drop coaster. its gotta be one of those three.
I have a funny feeling it won't be too similar to Indiana Jones, as they did stress the unique part...
HAHAHHA Beastnum1 You really will soound stupid if your wrong, the most themed and expensive ride in PKI history on CP's biggest top secret year yet , and possibly SFWoA hyper, there gonna get a flat ride.

I'm amazed that people are still envisioning this ride as a mere "flatride in a can."

Even if the ride system is a familiar face, it isn't likely to be the only important part of the attraction. We've been told that this ride will cost more than the Action Zone expansion. That's a BASE of $40 Million.

I had my expectations taken to new heights on Monday. Why anyone is picking this as a failure is beyond me. We were told that this ride will "change the face of the thrill ride industry," and I don't think that those words are anything to take lightly.

Give it a shot. You may just enjoy it. :)

the ride must be majorly themed. FoF is themed big time.
And Like I've said, I bet PKI will let the theming of the ride go to waste after a couple years like they have Adventure express, Top Gun, FoF, and Phantom theater. They don't have the drive to keep up with these rides very long. They don't replace lights or functioning parts for the theming soon enough to show they care about their themes. Go to a "real" theme park like Universal and you'll see some theme rides that have been taken care of and are always pollished. PKI just does not have the capacity to keep up their own themes. But who knows, maybe this will be the one holy ride they actually care about. I'm very doubtful.

For the last time, its NOT a coaster! PKI said it themselves.

Gemini Hnad Smacker, how is FoF's theming gone to waste? The ride is still themed to the Hangar 18 story. The interior of the que area has a UFO and a very detailed decorations like computers near the ship. They even have little survailance cameras on the walls, with one to show the guests in line as part of the preshow. Maybe you should go to PKI again this year and see for yourself.

Someone stated on another coaster site that Huss had madea Giant Top Spin in which they should at IAAPA and as many know this is what will be in the 20 story ride building. It makes too much sense and this stuff about MIB and Spiderman is now not possible with the picture of the ride vehicle. Anyone have pics of the Giant Top Spin.

Sigh... the god damn building is 80' high, not freaking 20 stories.
What I'm saying about FoF's lack of theming is that if you look up in there, a lot of the lights that used to be interactive with the whole video have burned out. Hell, they burned out last year, and they still haven't replaced them. I'm still not sure if they painted over the old carvings in the "indestructable" space ship yet, or if "jamie was here" this year too. Most of the time now they just use those flood lights on the towers to eluminate the line because it's probably too costly to replace all the old bulbs. But hey, why care about what used to be a decently themed ride. It's time to move all the park's attention to the next thing that they will eventually let go to waste.

i'm afraid of potatos!
Anyone remember that mountain at PKD that was such a huge attraction with 3 adventures in it when it opened. It faded fast and ended up having a coaster built in it.

The above post is right. PKI does not maintain the mechanics of their theming. Don't ya love the lava man on adventure express winking at ya cause they can't replace a light bulb?

Most of the flat rides have been ripped out of the park over the years. Instead of maintaining them like CP, they take them out when they need fixing.

A good coaster can last a lifetime at a park. So can a good MAINTAINED flat ride, and a good MAINTANTED dark ride. This park needs to make their investments last longer with maintenance, whatever category they are in.

All of this speculation and quotation from people who "know" is pointless. We don't know. The rumors are wrong because the rumors were thrown out as bones to their own people to keep people guessing (and see where the "leaks" were).

This thing is not going to be a flat ride in a can. Whatever you've read on Screamscape or Thrillride is wrong. Trust me.

To whoever is concerned about theming:
PKI does what they can. Im sure if you had a theme park then you would make damn sure that all the theming was up, right? Well, if you think, really this isnt cost effective. Hell, FOF still looks good, and I think that is what the park wants. I would rather skip all the theming for Top Gun than walk through it. That would add the entire walk to almost a mile. And im sure that PKI will maintain the theming on the new ride as long as they can. They might have other things on their mind, EG RUNNING A PARK. I would rather have a clean park with some lights that are burnt out than all lights working and garbage laying around everywhere. Wouldnt you?
