TOGO or Not To Go.

I really quite like SFGAdv's Viper's first half. The first inversion, which seems like a predecessor to the "twist 'n' dive" is really quite incredible -- they should mount a collection plate underneath it :)

But, after that, ugh. What happened? The turns into and out of the heartline roll are horrendous and the ride ends with so much speed, on any coaster, I'd be complaining there should've been more track.

Funny...that last turn on Viper is probably the part I remember the least. I do agree that much energy is wasted at the end. But you can say that about soo many coasters: Hypersonic, TTD, even Millennium Force. The only part I found uncomfortable was the slight jerk to the left before ascending into the first inversion. Liz and her sunburned shoulder vowed never to ride it again, but I thought it was a great little coaster for what it was.

I liked PKD's Shockwave and King Cobra at PKI. They were pretty good, with Shockwave being the better of the two.
Wow, I can't believe that many people thought Manhatten Express is boring and or rough and bad. Like I said before I thought that ride was incredible. Mabye I'd think differently if I rode it today but I remember loving that ride.

I also rode Skyrider @ PCW which I think is a clone of KC (I know Shockwave is not a clone of KC). I found Skyrider to be a very cool ride with a great first drop and an incredible helix.

Am I the only one that thinks Togo Stand-up restraints are more comfortable than B&M? I mean, the regular bicycle seat is great, B&M's do NOT get narrow enough, that's a wide seat to stick in between your legs. Once you get into the Togo Stand up restraints, I found them to be quite comfortable.

Warning: I do not think like the average person. My remarks have plenty of thought behind them. Take it for what it's worth, if you disagree, please, feel free to express it, but don't put me down because of it.

I dont know if anyone remembers, or cares, but KC had a ****load of airtime. I think that was one of the best parts( I mean that one hill where you were waitless untill the helix began) Do all TOGO standups do this?

Also I heard you say Shockwave is different than KC. How? The Shockwave pics I've seen indicate the same layout as KC.

Riding with a young student group back in summer of '97 (i think), I rode King Cobra with this kid who was too short to ride by about 3". The tester seat at the line entrance was unmanned, and none of the ride op's seemed to notice. This kid was sitting on the bike seat without his toes being able to touch. I even remember the ride op had to push down the restraint as the kid's weight wasn't great enough to do this on it's own. If I had been any older or wiser I would have seen where this was headed....

Needless to say with all of the airtime the poor kid's bike seat region withstood quite a beating, enough to keep him from doing much else for the rest of the day. It's crazy to think of how lax some parks used to be- and of what was yet to happen on the TOGO standup.

Windjammer was not good. Viper was a lot worse. Matthaten Express was not as bad as I expected, but it was not that good either. It is funny walking thorugh New York New York and youj could tell who has just been on ME. The sad thing is they charge $12 to ride!
They are nothing short of unadulterated evil torture devices.

Don't mind Manhatten Express in the front seat, but everything else it nasty!

I only like the Ultra Twisters, and Fujiyama. That vertical climb at Nagashima is sweet!

You have NO idea what a bad TOGO is until you ride Fujin Raijin II at Expoland in Suita city. It is a death machine, and puts that "Moosh-slamming-into-the-curves-TOGO" description in the catagory of fine wine/candy from Sweden. ;) (don't ask). FRII is one mighty dangerous ride, and if I hadn't survived the initial ride in 98, I wouldn't have dared ride it again in 2001. (Again, don't ask). However, you can see pics of it here! That helix is madness, and taken at the BOTTOM of a drop at full speed. Just insane. I dare you to ride it. I won't again. EVER.

Jeff, it makes Manhattan Express as smooth as MF. I swear.... and I loathe ME.

A random Mooshter's Dawntionary listing: Rectitude [n.] the formal demeanor of a proctologist just before he exams you.

I've ridden Shockwave and King Cobra and thoroughly enjoyed them, mainly because of the air.

I recently rode ME, fearing the worst and hoping to come off without injuries. However, to my surprise, the ride felt (dare I say) B&M smooth. I was the first ride in the front on the left side with my hands up on a hot day (duh) if any of that makes a difference. The ride had great drops, hangtime, and air. I was in a hurry, so I only got one (very expensive) ride, but it is currently in my top 20.

So I guess, given my experience, I am a TOGO fan.

Actually jp, I rode it at night in pretty chilly February weather, and had quite a smooth ride as well. I do think how smoothly the train rides depends on where you sit, as I was in the front seat also.
