Thunderhead update

Hey, don't forget me Andrea! This is Brian Ondrey from Consign and also in Pigeon Forge. We're doing our best to have it all ready. Running two trains together isn't tested yet, but long hours are being put in to make sure all is ready and everyone is trained for when it gets handed over to the park.

As for the ride itself, well in trying to be as unbiased as possible, you really want to make it here for this one. My one word for it is relentless (although airtime will also be popular for it too). But now I need to sleep. Back to work bright and early. *** Edited 3/25/2004 5:51:31 AM UTC by Wolfhound***

Joe, hates letting himself get too excited for a ride (you know, the whole 'anticipointment' thing) but it's hard not to when rides look this good!

Oh, and if any of you on here are season pass holders, you're in for a treat on Saturday, March 27th! I talked to Jeff again last night and he said that they're going to do their best to have everything ready for an early, sneak-peak! I guess there's some kind of season-pass ticket holder day or something, and so far, they're on track to have it opened for that.

Also, while I was on the phone with Jeff, I kept hearing this terribly loud rumble that would completely smother Jeff's voice...turns out it was the sound of the train flying through the station overhead...Jeff said that from the park, it sounds like Thunder :)

Well, I've got to go get ready for my loooooonnnngggg drive from Chicago to TN tomorrow...I'm certainly looking forward to getting in some ride time in the dark...Jeff said it's really kinda creepy :)

Jeff is supposed to be back in the office on Monday or Tuesday, so I'm sure the site is going to be updated with new pictures some time that week. If not, I'll try to post some pictures on some, unofficial site on geocities or something...I'll post the link here.

Drive safe, Andrea....and have FUN (kinda hard not to by the looks of it).

And as for GCI's "in the top ten", OzCat will likely move up this year once it gets some more riders...I know it made a BIG impression on me...:)

ThunderHead looks at least as good - congrats to GCII and Dollywood...and you too, Consign-guy...;)

Tina, catch a few laps for me when you head down for opening weekend...nasai can't get ALL of 'em (even if he is the rock star guy)...;)

Char, where do you work at in Country Fair?

And, is all the theming and paving complete in the new area?

I work on the rides in Country Fair!

The pavement is done....the theming pretty much...awesome...they are working on cleaning up and last minute.

Char, do you know the operating hours for the sneak preview day this Saturday? DW.com has nothing on it. Thanks ahead of time.

That's great to hear. I was kind of worried that the park would not have the area and walkways ready in time, but from the pictures I've seen they've done alott of alott of work. The gardens around the ride looked very nice.

Ok, so whats in the new area besides the coaster, restaurant, restrooms, what?

there is games too....plans for more stuff...they ran out of time

Since we are on Dollywood, are there any park admission discounts avalible in the area?

I'll remember that next time I am in Sunbury, but I don't think most of the employees there are my type ;)

^Some area hotels have discount tickets. You can view a list of them here.

Also, if you enter the park after 3pm, you can get into the park on the next operating day for Free. It's very handy if you are making a 2 day weekend trip.

Now, back to Thunderhead & the new area...

I think with Silver Dollar City INC. buying all sorts of new flat rides for Celebration City, it might prompt them to invest some new flats into Dollywood or SDC.

I'd love for the park to have some more rides like an Enterprise or maybe a themed Swinging Ship, that way Dollywood would be much more like a mini-Busch Gardens. I'm sure they could fit a few more rides into Thunderhead Gap.

TG seems like it has alott of open space, maybe so they can hook it back up to Craftmen's Valley eventually.
