Man that Ride took a lot of creativity. Such a big ride and such a small place....wow.....

Japanese tend to name all kinds of things like this though. Look at the translations of the names of some of there WWII ships.

While their WWII ships did have interesting names, I believe that most, if not all, were religious references of some sort. I somehow doubt that this ride is religiously influenced, but, hey, it's possible.

Why do so many people have a problem with Top Thrill Dragster? I think it's pretty clever. You'd of course have to have heard the term 'top fuel dragster' to appreciate it, I guess.

KFC, Absolutely! What a great concept! What great design! It looks like an extension cord draped over a shoebox and a bicycle rim.

Isn't that too early as I think the opening would be in May,,,if i'm not awfully mistaken. Anyway have good luck with the trip as you'll need it ;) (Dodonpa...)

You are right to say that the website says May is the set opening, but I have read through other Japanese sources that it will be April. Regardless, I am probably going to go to Japan in early summer, it turns out (so far this morning, anyway), so I will lose some weight with the heat, and less people will be in my way as well...:) It's all good!

nasai, Watashiwa Clint-desu, Hajimimashi te(sorry for the breake, but it saw shi te together and ***'ed it out!), Dozo Yoroshiku.

I so want to visit Japan, not only for the coasters(this one looks increadible), but also for the culture. Oh, and some really good Sushi!

Aside from that, Japanese Girls are Hott...

Clint, agreed! I love the Japanese culture, and especially the women-folk! Oh Lord!!! Mada tsukoshishikahanasen masen. Nihongo hanasen masuka? I love sushi too. If I were stranded on a desert island, and met a genie in a bottle, I would ask for sushi (fresh, of course..:)). Chutoro, Hirame, and Ika!

Ain't that a mouthful? ;)

LoL, I took 2 years of Japanese in High School, would have been fluent if I had had a teacher who cared about teaching. I love the culture, and the language(esp. in written form), and they have such great entertainment: Anime, Kung Fu Movies, TONS of coasters that i may never ride. and all in such a small place, where its okay to eat raw fish and be socially accepted. Does it get any better than that?

No, it doesn't... In fact, I fully intend on living in Japan full-time upon retirement. To add to that, I might very well offer up my citizenship for that of the Japanese. I prefer their culture. When I first went a long time ago, I felt like I was a adopted child who found his birth parents. I still feel that strongly today.

You're not the only one that feels like that Rob. 2 weeks there and I didn't want to come back for many reasons.

Have you ever eaten at one of the Genki Suishi places? I know they are all around Tokyo, not sure about Osaka.

Get rid of the crazy flashing anime cartoons (and maybe the plastic food, nah, that's good for us english who can't read japanese), and you do have one of the best places on earth.

Two weeks isn't enough time...

Could this kind of be considered a terrain coaster? Since it does follow the buildings and such. Or am I just plain wrong?

I think that is stretching it a bit. Delphis, in Osaka, is more of a terrain (following the shape of the building) than Thunder Dolphin ever would be. This is mostly due to it going under different sections of the mall it is housed on top of, and inside of.

Just a quick O.T. question, nasai or Peabody, is Japan very expensive to visit? How are the prices on places to stay, food, and entertainment, as well as transportation while you're there? I'd love to go, I really want to ride this, as well as Steel Dragon, and many other coasters there. I'd love to spend a month in the Orient, 2 weeks in Japan, and 2 weeks in China, DREAM VACATION!

The Logo is out, and it looks like,...like a Thunder Dolphin ;) :D

Picture is here

TeknoScorpion, Japan is extremely, extremely, extremely, EXTREMELY expensive. And, you can pretty much only use cash. My ticket from Chicago to Tokyo and back was pretty cheap at $900. Most airlines.travel agents were quoting me $1600-1700 for the ticket. Luckly, a Japanese friend went through an agent in Tokyo for my ticket. With conservative spending, I spent about $2000 in one week! That does not include lodging. Luckly, most of my expenses (flight, and lodging) was taken care of for me! (I reccomend visiting Japan on someone elses dollar! I just *had* to go, sigh... ;) )

Each park cost me about $150 between admission and souvineers. Travel is insane. A Japanese friend and I drove his car from outside of Tokyo to Tokyo Disneyland. The 45 minute drive cost us about $75 for the round trip in tolls. Plus I spent about $40 to fill up his tiny little gas tank with a few liters!

So, even though I was there with a free flight and staying for free, it cost me a load to visit parks, eat good food, etc!I reccomend anyone visit Japan, but go there with a few grand in cash!
