Thoughts after Holiday World. . .

All I have to say is one thing....

BOULDER DASH Is better...

Okay, okay, it's Raven, Shivering Timbers, Legend, Boss, (some others), then Cyclops. I have not been on Boulder Dash yet but it can't be good because it is too far away. The three best elements of a coaster are Location, Location, Location. :)
Agreed that Boulderdash is better than Raven and Legend. I even put Cornball above them, and Shivering Timbers!

I personally enjoyed Raven over Legend *dodges rocks and pancakes*. I guess I enjoyed the out-of-control feeling over the lateral power.

As for Holiday World, I've got plenty of love for it. Its one of my favorite parks. The employees are very efficient and friendly. I even got to meet Pat Koch, she was around sweeping. I thought it was great to see one of the owners helping around the park. She was extra friendly and so wonderful to talk to. Makes you feel so good to spend that money to get into the park and spend even more money on souviners. Can't forget free soda, what a wonderful gesture towards guests. I try to tempt my parents to go there with that incentive, doesn't work. Just an all around wonderful park that I can easily just spend the day and enjoy. No worries.

I also agree that a Beemer wouldn't really fit in the park if you ask me. Another woodie seems perfectly fine to me *ahem* Gravity Group *ahem*. I guess I'll take a GCI, as long as its like Thunderhead, which I've yet to ride.

I'll reiterate...I love Boulderdash! *** Edited 6/23/2004 4:08:24 AM UTC by RCTfan***

WDWCP - Spring 2006 - Entertainment
Everyone always has different opinions about woodies. I've ridden Raven and Legend ,and while I loved Legend, I through Raven was pretty dull, but personally my 2 favorite woodies on the planet are Outlaw at Adventureland, and The Boss at Six Flags St. Louis. But I've heard people who love Raven, say those 2 suck in comparison, so it seems everyone has a different opinion on wehat makes a good wooden coaster.
I was just about to agree with the "different opinions" comment, but then you mentioned Outlaw. Maybe some opinions are wrong?? J/K :)
All of these people claiming Boulderdash, Cyclops, Wildcat, Phoenix, etc are better than the HW woodies obviously haven't had the privilege of night rides at Holiday World. :)

I was a bit underwhelmed after my first (daytime) ride on the Raven, and I really did not the Legend. Then I went to SRM and the Raven became the best ride on the planet while the Legend became the most intense, out-of-control coaster I've ever experienced.

I feel the same way, Nate. It wasn't that I was underwhelmed with Raven during the day - I was quite whelmed (;))! But at night, that's when that thing comes alive, and that's when it took just a few rides for me to put Legend above my previous all time fav, Shivering Timbers. And after four years, Legend is still my #1, and the only new-to-me ride to come close to it was Tremors at night.

There's a reason I'm named Legendary! ;)

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Antuan, I should have been more specific, not a Windstorm, per se but the similar model by Premier Rides that's found @ SFoT. That wicked midcourse drop in the dark is excellent!

Tremors is about the only coaster I've seen pictures of that looks like it could compete with The Legend to me. But like RavenTTD said, it's just to far away (and IMO in the middle of Nowhere, BFE).

With all due respect to all other wood coasters on the planet, Tremors has THE BEST opening sequence of elements on a wood coaster. The drop/tunnel/bunny/tunnel/rise-and-lateral-slam made be breathless on each of my nearly 40 rides during ERT last year.

F'in amazing!

I have not been on Tremors either, but for me the best opening sequence on a woodie are the first 3 hills on Shivering Timbers followed by the first outrun on Boss. I have never been to SRM, but I got the last train one night last year on Legend and it was awesome. If they ever do another SRM, I would love to go. It seemed like a few years ago more parks stayed open later than they do now. *** Edited 6/23/2004 4:24:53 PM UTC by RavenTTD***
IMHO Holiday World should stick with wooden coasters, as that is what they are known for.
Also IMHO they need to add a creation from GCII, but this time design it to be a thriller as opposed to the family design of the other two -- this would then create a gradual progression of intensity that the families could enjoy together (raven - legend - new coaster). I also think that Splashin' Safari needs to add body slides to the mix. A great location for these would be near the Wave on the other side of the park from the "big rides". The problem that the park has right now is that most of the people are sucked to the "big rides" and that causes bottle necks and massive crowding. I would also think about relocating the entrance to the waterpark so that the flow of traffic into the park doesn't create such as massive crowd their by the lockers. Is there anyway that an entrance could be created near the main entrance to the park?

Just my thoughts

Nah, I think the Gerstlauer spinning mouse would be a very welcome addition to Holiday World. Because the mouse is a perfect example of "family thrill ride" and that's what Holiday World specializes in. It would also be something new to talk about as opposed to just building another wooden coaster when they already have two VERY high-quality woodies. Not that a wooden coaster would be a bad addition (especially if it was GCI), I just think if they added one of these custom spinning mouses it would be quite awesome and something different.

I can't see a Beema at HW, not yet anyway. ;-)

A nice Revvy spinny mousey would be IDEAL, and/or a spinning dragon, judging by the WOF pics. :-D

<----who LOVES the fast and furious Raven, but prefers the multiple, blissful, variety of elements that only the Legend can produce. :-D

Hades has a good chance of putting Raven & Legend to shame. With a small park like Mt. Olympus building a HUGE TGG woodie I dont think it would be too far fetched to see HW add something like Hades sometimes in the future as addendance increases. Raven & Legend are better than most wooden coasters but there are a few trying to give them a run for the money especiall the two new ones for Wisconsin Dells. Time will tell if that happens! *** Edited 6/24/2004 7:22:53 AM UTC by Pink Floyd Fanatic***

I love how someone can already know how good Hades is going to be based on one 90' high turnaround and a long, flat tunnel.

Don't be an emgee...let's heap the kudos on Hades after it opens.

Didn't someone tell you, Moosh? Holiday World has been shopping around the idea of a wood coaster with a 90' high turnaround for quite some time.

Now who's looking like an emgee? ;)

I admit it...I'm occasionally an emgee ;)
That is not the ONLY thing that you are occasionally Moosh. :)

You know I agree with you Scream Machine. A Gerstlauer spinning coaster (they are not mice) would fit in all right there. I know that SD and TT are very popular at their respective parks.
