Wrong Sirloindude. I would never go to an amusement park and waste my entire day walking through EVERY store in a park, and walk out after all that time with a couple post cards. I go to ride the rides, walking through stores, and doing boring crap, is not my thing.
I didn't do it! I swear!!
Of course, to some, riding rides is boring crap.

Doing crap is rarely boring, thanks to bran muffins.
Have you taken this friend to MIA yet?
Since they never get a new ride, their gift shops have to be top notch right?

Cedar Fair hates MIA so much, it doesn't even get new gift shops.

And yet they still increase the prices in the current ones!!!

In high school I went to prom with a guy as friends, found out he wanted more. We went to the after prom at Cedar Point the next day with friends (his best friend was dating one of my friends). Us girls wanted to get in line for Magnum(1st year) but he looked at it, pointed out that it was awfully tall, and suggested we play games instead. After he won the 2nd cheesy stuffed animal for me we left the guys to play games and got in line for Magnum. I can't really remember him riding anything with me. All I remember is stuff he refused to ride. If there had been any, ANY chance of him convincing me to be more than just friends he blew it right there.
He was a nice guy. I hope he found a nice wife to keep them somehwere safe for him, maybe the fireplace mantle or a nice bookshelf. Not too tall of a bookshelf, though, I don't think he woud like that.
Geez, this article!! I guess some points are valid, the lines are the worst. I don't mind waiting in the shorter lines but I don't even bother if it says it's going to be a two hour wait. I'd rather ride the non-coaster rides and get my money's worth than stand in a two hour line.
I used to go to Cedar Point as a kid, and it was just incredible. Disney was disappointing after growing up going to CP every year. It's been a long time since I'd been there so in summer 2013 I decided to take my husband when he got back from being stationed overseas. It wasn't how I remembered it. A lot of great stuff had been gotten rid of (paddlewheel boat, disaster transport), which I knew about going into it because I do enjoy reading these forums. The lines for the big coasters they replaced them with just were so long it wasn't even worth it, we had one day to experience the park and then we had to go home. We did get to ride a lot of the flat rides and a couple of coasters- multiple rides on the Gemini which is my FAVORITE!! But overall I feel like he didn't get the full experience of Cedar Point, just because of the lines! (Also, Windseeker and that big sky swing were shut down for some odd reason, which is half the reason I wanted to go!)
I think next time it may be worth it to pay extra for those line jumper passes and spend two or three days at the park. We've only done the line jumper passes once, at Busch Gardens on our honeymoon, and it was just fantastic. SO UNBELIEVABLY WORTH IT.
We still had a great time though. A park visit really is what you make of it. I guess going as just a couple is WAAAY easier than going with kids, but when I have kids I'll take them regardless. Preferably on a less crowded weekday :)
I think I honestly enjoyed our visit to Waldameer, my other childhood favorite, even more. Lots of shade. Lines weren't insane. Not overly crowded. And we rode the Whacky Shack multiple times, which is my other absolute FAVORITE ride. :) Extreme coasters with long lines don't necessarily make a park the best. It's the overall experience. But, it's also what you make of it.
Man, back when I was that age, I would have done anything ten times more scary, dangerous, and or illegal to hook up with a girl (if that's all I thought it would take). Interesting.
