I love the Vote up feature, however, it could be a little bit better. I would love the option to unclick it if I change my mind of click it by mistake, you know, like Facebook.
Also, I would like to be able to see when my posts get voted up and by who, again, like Facebook. Normally, I don't go back and reread a topic to see who likes my past posts. There may already be a way to see this information that I don't know about.
Thirdly, can we talk about how Vote up should be used? Is it open to interpretation? I use it to say three things.
Discuss. :)

If you go to "my account" you can see who voted up your posts.
I agree that it'd be nice to be able to "unlike" posts. Especially when using the mobile site, I've accidentally upped posts.
Hi
I concur with the last two posts and would like to vote them up.
Seriously, I would also like a guideline for voting up and a way to remove votes as well. I accidentally voted for something really heinous one day and had to clarify that I wasn't voting for Hitler or something of the sort.

I think you guys are really overthinking it. You like the post, you click the button.

I can't find a link to "My account." I found one that reads "Account." It doesn't show me the info that I am looking for. I do believe that I found a link to my past activity at one time. ???

I too have accidentally "upped" when trying to click to find out who had previously Upped a post...
Then again, the touchpad on the home lappy is....well, touchy. ;~P
I've also suffered one or two accidental "Vote Ups"
I use the button more like a "me too" button.
I have liked checking who voted up my posts for a while. I'm actually kind of surprised you guys didn't know about this!

I've liked checking it out as well, but I was bummed that one of my +1s was from Dan Koch on a response to a meme which I had no business posting. If I get a +1, I want to have earned it by doing something that, I dunno, actually warrants it.

Me too.

When the criticism of revoking voting privileges was originally brought up in the other thread, I meant to respond, but the new discussion had shifted too much. ;) It was one of those "too late" moments, so thanks for bringing this up, Travis.
To be honest, I thought the original criticism was unnecessary. I agree with Jeff here; if there's something you personally like about a post, vote it up. There's no need to feel you have to hold back to match the stricter standards of others. Maybe you're just more optimistic than them. :)
Sure some vote much more than others, but I have yet to see anyone that votes up every post mindlessly. The standards for voting up are going to vary for everyone, and when thinking about myself, they vary on a daily basis.
Sometimes I'll vote up posts that make me feel good or laugh. Other times I'll become intensely interested in something and only vote if I agree with everything in a post. There are times I'll vote to thank a person for solving a problem or question, to support an accomplishment, and to recognize good knowledge or positive behavior. Lastly, there are times when I simply don't feel like voting and just want to read.
Ultimately, making some strict criteria for everyone to follow when voting won't work. And it doesn't matter; there are plenty of people voting, and the collective whole should determine if a post has some special merit.
I think Gonch's point about the "me too" responses is frankly the bigger and more important point. Over on PointBuzz, where we don't have the newer forum, it's annoying to see people make posts that just say, "me too," or "+1," or "^^^ Like!!!11!"

Guys, seriously. I made an off-the-cuff snarky comment about some people's voting up habits. I don't think it warrants a thread to discuss it and I'm certainly not advocating for stricter guidelines to follow in the use of the vote up.
If I've made some folks feel anxious about voting up or criticized for it, I apologize.

As the creator of this topic, talking about why people Vote up was only the third part of a three-part question. :) Part two was answered quickly. Part one was not really discussed at length.
So, Vote up this post if you think that the Vote up feature should include a way to take back your Vote up. lol

Such a desperate ploy to get some votes, Travis. ;)
No, I'm with you. There have been a couple times where I accidentally voted a post up, and while no one probably noticed or cared, it really bugged me when it was a post I didn't agree with. Both of my mistakes were made when clicking to see who voted the post up. Sometimes that black list of voters freezes on top of the "Vote Up" link, and as I try to click and minimize it, I accidentally vote the post up.
There have also been a couple occasions where I read something that I agreed with so strongly that I instantly voted up before reading the whole post. The post then went on to say something that I strongly disagreed with or something that might offend someone else. So, I wanted to take it back.
Anyway, vote this post up if you think CoasterBuzz is awesome.
