The Track Editor: Easy or Hard?

Thanks, the banking was the issue. I've got it down now.

<<NL more or less removes the middle man.  ; ) >>

Well, if that's the only difference, I'd much prefer having the middle man :)

But, that's just my opinion.  It's a unique editor, and it's well layed out.  By no means am I trying to fault it technically, of course, but it's just not my cup of tea.  Editing curves seems a bit faster in NL than in SM, but the results are more or less similar, and I like being able to play with the numbers in SM.

Thanks for the explanation, though.  NL is a nice product, and I'm glad everyone's enjoying it.  I'll be the first in line to buy a final version, as Ole and you are deserving of some recognition for your hard work.

i dont get this, if you wouldnt be able to ride our saved rides in the simulator anyway, then why make us not be able to save it.  it would just give us more of a reason to buy the game so we could ride our previously built coasters from the demo in the simulator, it just doesnt make sense to not save.  and i know its a demo and stuff, but still, its almost like you guys did this just to be mean or something. it is frustrating spending all that time on a coaster and then having to say goodbye to it forever, its just not humane (coasterwise that is ;)  )  if anything i think the way the demo is now could drive people away from buying it because they have to start all over again and again, instead of rushing straight for the full version to test out your demo tracks you made 2 weeks earlier...
oh yeah, the chain isnt moving on the coasters, its just there and doesnt move at all.  my card is fully updated and the chain moved on all the other demos, so what should i do?

The chain moves fine for me.

You were told when you started the demo in a pop up box that saving has been disabled.  It was also on the website where you downloaded it.  That should have been your clue not to put your heart and soul into a coaster, and to just fiddle with it enough to get the basics and to get an idea of how it works.

Man, NL is just AWESOME!

I think that the editor is a little complex at first, but give it a few minutes and you'll be able to create the smoothest, most realistic coaster of any sim out on the market today. Even though I think that SM has a more straight-forward approach I think it is limited in use and very buggy, not to mention the camera control totally SUCKS! Once you learn the editor in NL, you should have no problem building very realistic coasters. I would take the NL editor over SM anyday, but thats my opinion.

Also, thank you Jeff for the NL forum and for all of your hard work on this site.

After a little work today, I figured it out mostly.
Its a lot of fun, but too bad you can't save it. But it IS only a demo..
For those who don't get it, just keep playing. It will happen eventually!

although I don't like the fact that you can't save tracks, I respect it.  Chris Sawyer never let you have any of the tracks that you made in the demo then buy the full version and incorporate them in.  also, I like that there isn't a time limit on the editor like there is on other demos.  is there a time limit on the simulator still?

is anyone having as much trouble as I am to make the coaster smooth?  on some cruves its great, but on others it gets a little rough at the joints.  anyone have any suggustions?  also, how do you plant trees and add tunnels?  those things should be added to the help page before the game is released.  I haven't tried it yet, but can you make two coasters in one editor?  like dueling dragons so something.

Hey y'all!

I made a really cool coaster tonight with No Limits! Well, at least I thought it was cool! lol It had a loop, inline twist, cobra roll, and 3 corkscrews. I don't think it is too hard to use the editor, once you get used to it. At first it seemed pretty hard, but I would recommend skimming over the "help" thing. One problem I had with the editor was that I couldn't figure out how to make the track move vertically! LOL But I have figured it out! lol In case anyone else is having the same problem, go to view other than the above one, and then you can raise it. LOL! I hope everyone doesn't think I am "Computer game Challenged" or something! LOL

Information on how to add scenery and tunnels is in the help guide.  Look a little closer.  :)

The chain lift moves on it's own when a train nears it.  Does this happen or not?

By chain lift move, do you mean the graphical chain moving on the track, or the train moving on it? Remember, if you're sitting on the train, the chain in front of you moves with the chain, so it appears to be still.

In the track editor is this were you build your own  coasters? I have tried everything maybe I will need more pratice at this I still think its difficult but I'm sure I'll catch on.

i mean that the graphics chain will not move at all, the train just passes by it like its a crosstie, ive tried everything...
I agree that at first the editor is quite difficult, but with Jeff's help (see above) and a little messing around, I figured it out and made (what I consider) a nice little coaster. I prefer the NL editor over the SM editor, because I could only make junk with the SM editor. No Limits just seems... easier. Hopefully the final version will come out soon!
Um....never heard of this problem before.

Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.  Update your video card drivers.
