The surgence/resurgence of Wild Maus/Mouse coaster

Quite frankly, I don't get it.  Used to be, you hardly ever saw Mouse coasters in big parks, but there seems to be a movement going to put them in.  For example, Carowinds and PKD are BOTH installing them for 2002.  I can understand economically why they might be a good idea, but personally, they don't do anything for me at all.  Am I the only one that feels this way?

-----------------
I rode "X" and never went upside down.

They're seen as great family coasters that can be installed for cheap. They won't do much for the hardcore enthusiats used to Millennium Force, but I find them to be the absolute perfect coaster to ride with my nieces. Parks are realizing this. Small footprint, small price, bad economic times, fun but not too intense for youngsters, sounds about right to me.

I personally love Wild Mice, when they're not braked heavily.  This means I love most all Mice, because I rarely find one to be overbraked.  My favs are easily the spinning mice (KW and Steel Pier, NJ) but my fav non-spinning is Hersheypark's.  Wow, that ride is *intense*!  I love Mack Mice the most, with Arrow's being second.

Cedar Piont is nothing with out MF. Come to SFMM and see whats happening. Just give us a Giga coaster and bam. CP out of the pic.
Arrow has Mice???...I guess we learn as we go. I like Mice too. My favorite is at the Westchester County fair...Wildcat
Mice may not be the rides that draw coaster enthusiats, but unlike some other production designs, we rarely pass up a chance to ride one.
Legendary, as far as I know, ALL spinning mice are made by Reverchon...THOSE are the best mice, IMO, and all others take a back seat...

Does the CP Wildcat count as a mouse? I loved that ride.

I pray that I will never see a Six Flags Conneaut Lake
My 7 year old sister can't get enough of Psycho Mouse at PGA and I think that's what parks are aiming for. You make more as a family/thrill park than you do as just a thrill park.

CP's Wildcat is a Jumbo Jet as far as I know. It's not a mouse, Schwarzkopf never built any.

I havn't been on a wild mouse, but will be next year. Some tiny park near Madison, WI has a old Mack mouse, and next year I'm going there after a trip to Big Chief's. I hope that SFGAm adds a Wild Mouse in a few years, that is all the park really needs as far as coasters go, that and maybe a hyper Seizmic. Off hand, I can't think of any SF parks with wild mice, do any have any?

Hey, SFGAm management, can I buy a couple cages of Sky Whirl?

Mice are good gateway coasters. Ya see...you turn on the young crowd to coasters, and they'll be wanting...no...demanding something bigger and better down the road.

Ahh yes, somebody mentioned my favorite mouse-the one at Hersheypark. It actually has a ride photo too. For a mouse, it's very intense. As for why mice are popular again, just look at the wide age range riding them. I've seen everyone from young kids to grandparents on board. You can't say that about most hypercoasters.

First off, you haven't been on a mouse until you've been on a spinning Reverchon. God bless Kennywood for that one.

Second, think in terms of a park operator with regards to installing a mouse. The kids love them and they're more family oriented. That means more admissions, more souveniers, more cheese on a stick... you get the idea.

I've always enjoyed a wild mouse ride every now and then.:)

Isn't CP's Wildcat actually a Schwartzkopf  Galaxy coaster?????

What $$ range does the Mouse fit in?  How does it compare in price to a Mine Train?  Of course a Mouse has a smaller footprint, but it also has lower capacity than a Mine Train.

Does anyone know of a themed indoor mouse?

I LOVE Wild Mice!! Well, actually I have only been on one, Mad Mouse at VF. I love little rides like that. Wildcat @ CP, Whizzer @ SFGAM, I love those kind! I know Wildcat and Whizzer aren't really Mouse rides, but I just mean I love rides similar to that. I mean, they aren't really all that thrilling, but I think they are just alot of fun, and that is one of the purposes of them. Me and my Sister rode the Mad Mouse at VF, and we laughed and laughed! lol Those hairpin turns just make ya want to laugh! lol I really wish SFSTL would get a Mouse coaster. I think it would be a great coaster for the Castaway spot, since that is close to Looney Tunes Town. You knew I would probably mention SFSTL somewhere in this message! lol ;-)

Gravityrules, I don't know about pricing, but, as for your last question; get in your car next year, travel to Kennywood and ride Exterminator! It's an indoor, themed, in-the-dark, spinning mouse.

Maybe it's just me, but all the mice I have been on just seem lame. Not "unthrilling", just lame. I've been on some cool "mild" coasters (CP's Wildcat, PKI's Reptar and PKD Ghoster Coaster) and they all seemed more fun than the four mice I've been on (which includes a dark spinning one and an unbraked one which sits atop a hill). I guess the overall premise doesnt "do it" for me. I think a 'roller skater' is cooler.

Hey Chitown, please close this topic and kick both of them off the furoms (sic). 2Hostyl and Jack Daniels No 7 do not belong in these forums at all. Plus 2Hostyl seems to have a problem to complaine (sic) alot and get into it with others. - IL_MForce_Junk

Better Yet, let's see a resurgence of bobsled coasters. That was a cool 'mild' design that "I believe never reached it's full potential..maybe that "Trail of Happiness" ride in Europe will create ripples...

I have only been on one mouse, the one at SFKK and I loved it. Other then that I like a lot of small mild coasters, mine rides, swartzkofs, bobsleds.  Differnt and paced is always good.
