The Shaft of Terror discovered at last

G'Day, I've just returned from an "expedition" to my birth country and original home park, Gold Reef City. Here are the photos of what looks like the Holy Grail of vertical coasters worldwide:

Who thinks that Knotts might need one of these with a mining theme? It would be perfect. B&M or Gianvola either way is fine. :)

Gio also made the awesome inverted coaster at Gold Reef Park, Anaconda. If you got the RollerCoaster mag with South Africa featured, you can see how cool this ride is. It actually has an upward helix that wraps around a giant rock. There are pics here http://www.goldreefcity.co.za/roller_coaster.htm

That's uhm, an odd looking ride. :) At first site I didn't even notice it was a coaster.

Am I the only one that thinks the name of the ride is like a bad horror porno flick, if such a genre existed?

No, now that you mentioned it, yes! :) Funny, the name reminds me of Samuel L. Jackson.

There are lots of reasons to believe, that Gio is pulling out of the coaster bizz:

Building Coasters is just a part of Giovanolas business. They are a huge steel manufacture, who built parts for coasters and LOTS of other things.
They have had bad luck with some ride-brokers, and they were not even credited for some rides they did (e.g. EUROSTAR).
Compared to the overwhelming reactions towards their rides, they didnt exactly have full contract-books, to build new coasters.
Check www.nauta-bussink.com . Thats a dutch manufacturer of ferris wheels and the EVOLUTION ride at SFGAdv, The SHAFT OF TERROR is actually credited to them, and not to Giovanola.
Its all very confusing, but the ride looks great.
