The real good news on Kingda Ka thread....

from todays Philadelphia Inquirer...

http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/12176114.htm

Only problem is you have to register to read it. But the idea of the article is that the park wants it open by the end of the month .... WOW! if they pull that one off I will be shocked since NJ is notorious for slow approvals.

It also explains that the liner coming loose was the cause of the incident and that the parts had to come from Switzerland to fix the ride. So there is the what happened from the park's mouth. *** Edited 7/20/2005 8:06:30 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

Yeah, yesterday the tested the ride a single time and it cleared the tower. Everything is looking good right now. Which is awsome news.

Updates about Kingda Ka will be posted on the park's Web site, perhaps as soon as this week, Siebeneicher said.

A note on the park's Web page apologizing for the closing of the ride has been unchanged since June 14.

"We realize that our guests' expectations for this record-breaking coaster are especially high," wrote Rick McCurley, vice president and general manager of Great Adventure. "We apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience this temporary closure may cause."

I'll believe the update when I see it. Great news, though, and hopefully Kingda Ka will open soon.

To all the naysayers that said it wouldn't be open until next season.....nyaaaahhhhh!
It still needs NJ's ok so I wouldn't celebrate yet.

I'll be glad when it doesnt have any major problems a week or two after it has reopened to the public.

You won't see me coming...

Ok, let's not jinx it ;-)

I thought this was what the park was saying from the get-go? It was the liner, parts from Intamin, Hope to be back open asap, more than likely Aug...

Well, maybe the park wasn't officially saying that, but I've seen/heard that from countless places. Regardless, I'd like to get up there next month. Just depends on if I get some job interviews in MB.

I don't disbelieve the Philadelphia Inquirer, but wanted to point out that this still isn't 'from the park's mouth' - it's the PI telling you what they claim the park said. It's called reporting.

Sure it's infinitely more credible than something on 'superdoopercoastersite.com', but it's still technically not directly from the source.

But I get ALL my information from 'superdoopercoastersite.com'...even the stuff that's NOT coaster-related! ;)

I am with Gonch, I will believe it when I see it on the Six Flags site. ;-)

Tekno is correct. The park told us what happened a month ago.

Also, they were saying sometime in late July/August from the get-go, but now they are actually very close to hitting that target. Should be up in a week or 2.

I am not saying that this is new info I was just pointing out that they are going to the press now with the info. And that those who recently were saying again that it was a cable issue have been debunked by the park in the press. *** Edited 7/20/2005 10:02:05 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

...yup

I'll still be suprised if it opens and runs consistantly by August, but I know they're target date was said to be august from various people.

Regardless, I'll be happy when I'm sitting in the train and on the downside of the tophat...

And only then.

There is life beyond Kingda Ka, people.
Right. I'm more excited about Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado tomorrow.

Ohhh! And they have a Disk-O!

Yeah...It's on a somewhat sandy and not so well shaded peninsula in Sandusky. ;)

Actually I am more excited about adding Tennessee to my august trip. Now that I want to delay Holiday World to next season. I'll get my Ka fix in september.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh i like disk-o's. *** Edited 7/20/2005 10:34:45 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***
