Sorry for the mix-up. I was laughing so hard from reading the replies in the HW news thread that I got temporarily mixed up. I've corrected my previous post.

Huh? What's that supposed to mean?
Just cuz hostyl quotes Chapter and Verse from the Book of 'Playa doesn't make him a student.

No, I meant 'Playa and Hostyl, but that's a pretty interesting read there, 'moosh. Hmmmmm.....
Ok, maybe you're just Hostyl's 'inspiration.'
It really wasn't supposed to be any kind of profound observation or anything...

Lake Compounce-So Fresh and So Clean Clean
OK, I'm baaaaack (flee in terror, mortals)....the next coaster craze at CP may involve more headaches than previously suspected....It seems that Xcelerator has been VERY "tempermental" as of late.....glad I got in ONE spin in the 5 hours I was "allowed" at KBF...:(.
'Moosh, really sorry I missed you (boblogone too...hope you guys got my voicemails)...but that's the breaks when I'm traveling on someone else's schedule.....Ken was WAY more interested in getting to LV to gamble than he was in coasters....bummer.
Anyhow, on to the "next craze"....remember, the topic....while the impulses ARE already, in fact, the new boomerangs (and infinitely better than those POS's)....once those *kinks* are worked out on X.....that's the DEAL right there......darned SoCal'ers! The 4-d is ALL that, and SO much more....(am I in the front or the back of the train)? My poor little brain is still spinning from that, and Xcelerator and the Vegas coasters are *mere* icing on the cake...(BTW, I prefer the cake to the icing, as if you couldn't tell)....to sum up, while Impulses are the new boomerangs, 4-d is the greatest thing since moveable type and Al Gore *inventing* the internet....THAT'S the next CRAZE right there...Schilke ranks up there with John Miller and Arrow's tubular steel in my book.....
Rollergator, you deserve much praise. Being a SoCal'r myself it's hard to convince people of the importance of X to the entire industry. Yup, we'll iron out those kinks so Cedar Point can get theirs with minimal fuss. Bring on the 4D's!
'Gator - glad you got to ride X and glad you enjoyed it. Strangely while I love X I haven't ridden it since Solace weekend back in March. I just can't bring myself to go to SFMM during the summer.
Yes, I did get your message and it actually worked out for the best as I was in DSL hell trying to finally get online at home. It began Saturday morning and by Sunday night [and one toasted CD-rom/DVD player later] I was finally done.
I was worried you'd have problems getting on Xcelerator. In the four visits I've had to Knotts since the ride opened its gone down 4-6 times each visit, once going down around 7pm and not reopening for the rest of the night [the park closed at 11pm].
While I'm no engineer I believe the problem w/ the KBF ride is with the proximity sensors, a similar problem HW's Legend had earlier this year after going to a 2-train op. The computer senses a problem that doesn't actually exist and the ride needs to be re-set. Unfortunately at Knotts that's a lengthy process.
I'd be willing to bet that CP's version [if that's what they're getting] will feature separate unload & load stations, which should solve most of the problems with downtime that Xcelerator experiences.

I think the next coaster craze will be taller and faster coasters. In addition, I believe parks will go for different ride experiences. Your typical B&M coasters are going to turn into something a little more interesting - to say the least.
I wouldn't be surprised if a park tops the 500 foot barrier in the next two to four years ;) ...And I think more X type rides will appear.
'Gator, I was at Knott's on Sunday, suffered a 'temporary delay' on Xcelerator as my first front seat ride came to an end. I had to sit in the sun while they used their emergency battery pack to first unload those sitting in the shade in the station and then unload us in the sun from the back to the front of the train. That grass in the infield will never grow if they keep having to exit riders through there during 'temporary delays.' I still got in four spins on Xcelerator, started the day with Monte' and grabbed a $1.75 BBQ beef rib before leaving between noon and one. It looked like Tim Allen had been working on the Tampico Tumbler.
As for the next 'craze,' here is hope for more full size wood (80'-120'), midsized (50'-80') and compact (under 50'). And how about traditional wooden coasters. Did I mention wood?
