Lake Compounce-So Fresh and So Clean Clean
Legendary,
I think most of the issues they had with WT is due to the high winds that come off of Lake Erie. I dont think they anticipated the shearing that WT and other rides have at that park. Also, remember the spires are taller and the train is heavier and faster.

Comin' round the bend :P
TR2k3....GET READY!
I truly think that Intamin's rocket coaster (Xcelerator) is the next craze. It's truly unique and I think CP will do something really special with the concept (I hope so). Once someone comes up with enough space to really have fun on one of these ( 2 minute ride at least) the concept will take off.
Of course, once the world's greatest ever prototype coaster, X, the Arrow 4D, irons out the bugs for the rest of the world it will trigger the 4D craze...it's inevitable!!

Toboggan: Bone jarring, head banging, thigh squishin' TORTURE.
The Back twist kicks the Brakes ass. It scares the crap out of you spinning through the twist and through the supports. Makes it much more intense then the brake.
The holding brake while fun doesn't provide much as far as intensity to me.

All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)
I can't form an opinoin of a ride I've never been on, I'm just saying that there really doesn't SEEM to be any reason to go on it. Here's my reasoning; 1: I've been on Vertical Velocity at SFGAm. 2: It was good, but not worth an hour wait again. 3: The best part was the holding brake. 4: Wicked Twister is almost identical to Vertical Velocity (they're even almost the same paint scheme!), except that it is taller and lacks the holding brake. My conclusion? Since it lacks the best part of a not just similair, but nearly identical ride, it doesn't appear that this ride would be worth going on if the wait is over an hour os so. Notice I say APPEAR. I don't know for certain. But my mind just can't imaine how going through more or less what you go through on the other spike, with pavement and sand instead of sky, can compare with just hanging there for a second, just contemplating how far up you are as you fall into your shoulder harness...
Of course, if I had an oppurtunity to go on it with a short wait, I'd jump at the chance. I don't call myself a coaster nut for nothing.
It's not twisting towards the ground that gets ya. remeber that WT has almost 2 times the amount of twist that V2/S:UE has. Add that to the fact that the footchoppers are so extreme on WT that you curl up into a little ball to avoid the supports. Along with the fact that you almost get a falling into your restraint feeling. And A back twist adds up to a lot more then a holding brake.
Of course this was when WT was going at full force which it no longer is. In it's current state I just might have to give you the brake.

I rode WT, Superman and V2 all in one week. V2 is the best IMO with the water below you as you hang on that back spike. I thought Wicked Twister however was the weakest impulse out of them all, it felt like it slowed you down before going up the back spike. And because of that I thought Wicked Twister was the worst of the 3 impulses I rode that week, however I do think it would be alot better if it was running at full speed.
Back on topic for the next coaster craze I think the B&M Flyers or 4d's will be the main coasters to be built in the near future.

I think the next coaster craze will be monkey powered coasters! I haven't worked out all the details yet, but when I do...look out B&M!
...and let me put my money on "the twist is better than the brake" - because it is.

Thanks Gonchar for attempting to put this back on track.
(SF)Great American - I dont want to get into the differences of the 2 impulses(i have only been on double twisting), but when you are 200ft in the air(about 180 when i rode because it wasnt going full power)looking straight down at the ground and twisting at the same time....then you tell me which you like more.

No. It is exactly 195' at its highest. That's not quite 200' now is it.
Dude, he stated that it was practically a hyper. Last time I checked, practically did not mean the same thing as definitely.

Anyway, this has just motivated me to actually go out and ride the thing (WT) next year so I can see what you guys are talking about. So be prepared for either an apology or a "HaHa, told you so," in about nine months, MagnumForce, Jess, and Lord Gonchar...
OFFICIAL END OF IMPULSE DEBATE
Back on track, I hope and pray that the next craze is in small (80 to 120 feet or so) wooden coasters. It seems like many of the best parks have one. But since they are all such unique rides (barring the Cy-Clones), I think there is room for more than one per park. Unfotunately, with all the emphasis on being tall and fast that we've seen lately, I don't think it'll actually happen.
I believe the next coaster craze will be endlessly debating the merits of coasters that haven't been built yet, or failing that, that the debaters have never boarded.
Oops, too late....
