The future of Coaster Alley Convergence

Hey folks. I just wanted to let you know that I will no longer be hosting the Coaster Alley Convergence event at Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, Idaho. The main reason I'm giving it up is because the park is in Idaho and I live in California. I don't want to have to commit to traveling to Idaho every year as my travel interests have changed over the years. Don't fret just yet! It isn't too late for someone to hold an event at Silverwood in 2005! If someone wanted to retain the name Coaster Alley Convergence, all I ask is that you email me just to let me know. To those who attended one of the three CACs, well, THANKS! The ERT was truly AWESOME! To those who haven't been to Silverwood yet, get your butts up there! I'm pretty sure ACE will be having another event up there and I think the Coaster Zombies are even heading up that way this year.

Thanks again and I hope everyone has a great 2005, whether you have an S & D calendar or not! (only kidding Moosh!) :)

Take care,

Kevin Coley

Thanks Kevin for all your hard work. I never made one but it was nice to know it was happening. I know it wasn't easy, Expecially post SRM.

Chuck, stuck here in ohio with no easy affordable way to get there, But I guess thats half the fun huh?

Thanks for the comments, Chuck. Believe me, if Silverwood was closer to where I live, I would definitely organize another CAC!

Jeff,

You might want to consider making CAC a Coasterbuzz event. You wouldn't have any problem getting people to attend, but you would almost have to guarantee late night ERT to get people there. But, now that I think about it, maybe you wouldn't. ACE had an event there last year that didn't feature late night ERT and I think that they had at least 40 people attend. Then again, why bother with ERT on Tremors if it isn't late at night? That is when it is running in top notch form. Anyhow, it is an idea.

Hey Jeff, this is a perfect opportunity for a Coasterbuzz event. ;)

(God forbid someone asks me to do it.)

It'd be one more membership perk ;)

*already making Dorney & BeastBuzz, though, so IF it happened, I probably wouldn't be able to make it this year.

I'd definitely go but ONLY if there was nighttime ERT. As good as those woodies are during the day the darkness, especially surrounding Tremors, really makes for an outstanding experience. Anyone who has been to SRM and experienced Raven and Legend in the dark knows what I mean.

....and it could be called Coasterbuzz Alley Convergence!

Ok, so that's a tad lame.

Tremors IS an amazing night ride, I have to say that...

Kevin, thanks for arranging CAC in the past. It really was an incredible time.

Kevin, THANKS! :) I don't know what else to say...:):):)

Best. ERT. EVAR! (This coming from someone who was fortunate to spend two solid HOURS of ERT on SFNE's Supes, and has it WAY above his #2 steelie...:).

For someone who really believes it's the people you're with more than the ride you're on, WOW! I love yous guys, and you KNOW who you are, but man, the RIDES we were on!!!

I hope *someone* is able to convince Silverwood to hold a nighttime ERT session, because while everyone but Paul Ruben knows that woodies are at their best after a good days running, there is no airtime like TT, and no wooden coaster (in North America at least) like TrEmOrS at night....

Kevin....THANKS! :)

Jeff - if you're serious about having a CBuzz event there than go for it. If not I might be interested in taking over as planner for CAC.

I will never forget CAC '03, for all the reasons mentioned above; a great park with great friends at a great event was a great time!

Thanks, Kevin :)

That would be awesome if we could get the return of nighttime ERT to Silverwood. I've been waiting for it's return to plan a trip out there.

Who ever takes over has a lot to live up to, thanks for CAC 2003 Kevin.
Kevin,

While I only was able to attend the first CAC, I must say that the evening ERT on Timber Terror was probably the most memorable ERT I have ever gotten. With all of the park lights out and a star filled sky, I couldn't think of a better way to end the night with a bunch of friends.

As for Tremors, I did get one ride on it before it closed for the rest of the day, but I was more than happy with my ride on it (and with only 5 cars).

Silverwood is one of those parks I would love to go back and visit with a group of friends but because it is so far away from everything else, it usually is a hard sell for those that have never been there. ERT is no longer a draw for me to attend events but I will admit it made the first CAC really shine.

Thanks for putting on such a first-class event Kevin. I believe I did a trip-report for the first CAC but have no idea where the heck I saved it at.

I moved three thousand miles so I wouldn't have to travel so far to go and you all went and canceled it on me.

So, yeah, I'd go. :p

Temporarily cancelled.

Kevin tells me he doesn't want an organization running the event, so I'm out.

That's what Kevin said to me as well. I think he wants to retain the original "vibe" of the event but I'm not sure, I can't speak for him.

Anyway, there is a VERY good probability that CAC will happen this year. I've already called my connection at the park [they were in our 2004 calendar] and the preverbial ball is rolling.
