The first trip report on MM and X?

I never thought anyone would care to hear on how bad X "suX" so why post, and let people down... let them enjoy that 1st drop, then well, they'll be damn already back to the station...

At least with X being an utter disappointment Cedar fair can sit back an chuckle... :)

Disappointment? I guess I'll know for sure within the next 12 hours. The way I see it, Batman is also a very short ride but no way is it disappointing. I sort of expect X to be the same. Freefall is also a very short ride....but it's a good rush. A short ride also means that the line moves faster.

Yes, it seems like it's been a long wait for X to open and maybe some people are expecting too much from it. I say that if you have no expectations and just experience it for what it is.....then you probably wont be disappointed.

If for any reason the ride does suck....well....they have pleanty of other coasters to choose from that don't suck so there's one gaurantee.....it won't be a wasted trip.

*cries* I wont be riding tomorrow. I'll only br riding the 26th-28th, 31st-4th, and media day on the 10th!
Being on the east coast I don't really get what all the hype is about.  So it is something new, but it is still Arrow, and in a few years we will all be saying how rough it is and how unbearable the restrainst are.  Now the mystery "floorless" coaster at SFNE is something to get excited about, as is anything by a certain coaster company (B&M B&M B&M). :)

Paul:  SFMM is actually pretty good on the staffing & capacity issues.  Much more so than, say, SFWOA.

3 1/2 HOURS UNTIL X!

I would agree the Californians are more mellow then other states, but you are not trouble free - remember the riots of 1992?
Anyways, I hope X is worth the wait.

This is perhaps the biggest thing to hit coasters since the first B&M inverted.  Of course there are going to be some naysayers and some backlash.  For all of you that are going to ride this ride today, and are going to ride, lets just dismiss what some people are saying as completely predictable, and part of what coaster message boards have become.
Excactly right Ravenguy!  Can't wait for the phony TRs to start, with people saying they actually flew from the East coast to ride it today. Can you predict what they'll think of it? It will SuX of course.

I agree with Phoneixphan....I predict this will be a fluke. Roughness will take over, it will break down often as well.

The only reason this has such a hype is because it was sopoused to open a year ago...What does that say about the coaster? It shows how unreliable it will be.

even if the rest of the ride is dull which it looks like it might be the first drop and the raven turn will make it one of the most intense rides in the park
Um, i think the reason there is so much hype about this coaster is that its a completely revolutionary ride design concept.  I don't see what its "sopousing" to have opened a year ago (which isn't true at all) has to do with it.

The backlash is inevitable.  We've seen it with X, WT, AIR, and TR:TR this year alone.  After a while it just all sounds the same.  Give it a rest guys.

I'm gonna take a guess, 98% downtime? >: )

Good luck, hope you guys get to ride, don't have to wait 4 hours, or have to endure constant breakdowns, a huge factor you are all ruling out! :)

I didn't mean to sound too negative about X, but I just really don't see where it is THAT huge of a revolution.  It just looks to me as Arrow took the next step in the floorless coaster market.  As for lines, well I feel that at first they will be short due to the looks of the thing, but the GP will eventually pack in.  I mean I am sure that everyone was scared sheissless when Magnum XL 200 opened, no one had ever seen a coaster that high before.

*SIGH* What I would give to ride a coaster on Christmas Eve!

I will go out on a limb and predict that the ride will be FUN ans INTENSE, but that there will be considerable down-time at first...give them time, and we'll have one (^*$& of a prototype - and more WILL be built!

Next step in floorless?  Have u actually seen this coaster?  And let's not all forget that this isn't the first prototype to open very late...Magnum, Chiller, Mr Feeze, etc.
Did Maggie really introduce any new technology, though?  I was under the impression that its basically a mine ride on steroids.

Well Paul...aren't you ever the optimist! Do I detect a bit of jealousy?

PaulD, thank yor for the bright and happy comments from across the pond. :P

I should mention to you two that I have actually recently secured a trip to California to ride X next year, so I will actually get my chance to ride it, which means I have no reason to be jelous actually :p
Can I just say now that I am not trying to say the ride will be a complete failure on Six Flags behalf, but are you seriously telling me you think this ride will never break down, will never have long queues, and in 2-3 years the ride will still be smooth????, Just look at the history of Prototypes over the years, there will most likely be a 98% chance this ride will suffer serious downtime in its first full months of operation, Of course things will improve, but it wont be for a quite a while yet. Also why attack my opinions as to what I think will happen, I'm just judgeing my opinions from other prototype ride openings and that is all. I actually personally would like to see the ride succeed, after all, this ride decides Arrow's Fate, and it would be a real shame to see them disapear from the Coaster scene.

sfdl dude - at least someone seems to believe the same views as me, If only everyone else would just understand that when X opens to the Public, It will MOST LIKELY wont go all smoothly

Paul: SFMM is actually pretty good on the staffing & capacity issues. Much more so than, say, SFWOA.

Oh, I totally agree with ya, I visited SFWOA this year(June 2001) and their capasity issues were horrible, there was 1 train op on raging wolf bobs, 1 train op on double loop and 1 train op on X-Flight, Also when you take into account that The Boomerang, SUE and Roadrunner Express all run 1 train, this meant that over half their coasters were running 1 Train, meaning for an absolutly awful capasity all around the park, I happen to visit the park on 2 very busy days, and everyone was furious with the park operations, I actually saw Fights beween the GP and Staff nearly break out in the X-Flight station because things got so bad. Also, I actually had no idea that SFMM are not too bad on the Staffing and Capasity Issues, I guess this shows that some Six Flags are actually not too bad at running a park, which is what I cant say for some parks(SFWOA like you just said)

Well if today was any indication, SFMM may be slipping a bit. The load times were bad IMO, and the park is going to need more security guarding this ride. A couple of people were line jumping and pushing and nothing was done. I'll just write it off as opening date bugs and leave at that...for now.

Once I actually boarded X, all was forgiven. This is just an incredible ride form start to finish. Everything came together for Arrow this time, from the first drop to the last raven turn I never stopped laughing and screaming. But it was the *trains* that stole the show today. Just the most comfortable and facinating creations I have experienced. It's time for some of you to start eating crow, after just two rides, I'm hooked.

Guess we'll name this one the "mistake at the Mountain" ;)

X......IS.....COMING!

You and me both Dweaver! X screams! Fast & Furious! It may be a short ride but there's not a dull moment to it!

I was not at all disappointed. As far as them working out a few bugs (seat adjustments basically)...well that was to be expected....but as the day progressed so did the smoothness of their operation.  In my opinion...X kicks ass!
