The first day open, Dejavu Valleys at SFOG 3/23

Another Vekoma GIB valleys, this one on its first day of operation in the 2002 season. Again, I predict all of these things will valley at least 30-40% of the time this summer until they redesign the lift mechanism. It's a shame that every time this happens, Vekoma is sinking deeper and deeper in the coaster industry.

I wouldn't say that until the stop building many, many rides each year. Lets compare how many coasters Vekoma has opened to how many B&M has opened in the past 5 years...

If the shoe fits, find another one.

lets compare how many vekoma breakdowns you hear about every year when compared to B&M

I'm not into bashing Vekoma or any other comapny designing rides. That said, I hear SF got the GIB coasters at a HUGE discount because they purchased four. Ever heard of the term "you get pretty much what you pay for"? hehehe...

It's a shame because I like the ride, but I'm sure this is testing the patience of even Six Flags.

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

That still doesn't change the fact that Vekoma's are more popular with parks. If you've built that many coasters you're obviously doing something right.

They're more popular because they're cheaper, not better. And Vekoma is not on Six Flag's good side at all.

*light bulb* Reread my post. I never said Vekoma was "better."

Like I said before, say Vekoma is sinking deeper and deeper when they aren't building 5 coasters at a single park, or still building SLC's and Boomerangs all over the world.

Well Vekoma has made more coasters than any other manufacturer believe it or not

Vekoma: 213 coasters
Schwarzkoph: 136
Arrow: 117 coasters
Intamin: 63 coasters
B&M: 50 coasters
CCI: 34
Togo: 34

So as you can see Vekoma is still the leading manufacturer

So Titanic has made more money than any other movie, but it's far from the best.

Exactly, Mr. DrachenFire. In reality no other manufacturer comes anywhere close, and they are still building coasters at a rate that no other company can match.

And like I said before, nobody is claiming that Vekoma is better than anybody else.

Four, since when did they purchase four? I count 3.

There's a fourth in WBMW Spain. http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery1369.htm?Picture=8 (This park is a SIx Flags property)

But why can't they realize that if this keeps happening there MUST be a problem.

Um, I have a feeling they do.

If you look at the constuction pics for WBMW's version, there is not a catwalk on the cobra roll

they put the catwalks in as the last thing

Not all parks are able to get a B&M coaster because they probably can't afford it don't have the space or whatever the case might be so they turn to vekoma because it is more compaq and affordable. It has nothing to do with being the best or anything.

Thats one reason, jay_rider. The main reason is parks don't need much R&D going into a ride when they buy Vekoma, because they are all pre-designed. Not many B&M clones exist, with a few exceptions, most noteably Batman/Namtabs everywhere and the Japanese Raptor clone. Most B&Ms are designed to fit on the terrain, unlike Vekomas where they are just raised above the terrain.

About DV valleying... I'm sure it will be cold at SFGAm opening day, making it more prone to valleys. I better ride that first thing in the morning! Who knows, maybe I'll end up on the cycle that does valley. The only thing I know is I better get compensated and hope I get an exit pass for the rest of the day if that happens! That would suck having to get off at any point but the station.

Less than 2 months until SFGAm opens!

They realize it is a problem, but until it harms someone and they get sewed they will not do anything about it.

SFMM's Deja Vu was already operating before the catwalk under the cobra roll was installed. (scary thought, eh?)
