The Additional "The"

Jeff did.

But in Vater's case had his post just said "Speaks for itself, eh?" how would we have known which post he was referring to? He wisely quoted ONLY the portion of Nitro2KI's post that was pertinent. IIRC Jeff is OK with that practice.

Yes, but if I just posted 'Speaks for itself, eh?' by itself, no one would know to what I was referring.

I got yer back, Vater ;)
So what! "The" is just a word. It's not hard to understand what people are talking about when they misuse it. If you couldn't understand what they were talking about, then you may have a valid complaint. I see this as just nitpicking. Nobody is beter than anyone else. you nitpickers are acting like people who put "the" incorrectly before a ride name are really stupid or something.

It could be that they are trying to say "The coaster called Batman.", but they shorten it to "The Batman".

Go volunteer for a charity or something. Try to make the world a better place. Quit complaining about people you perceive to be below you.

DISCLAIMER- I do not put "The" in front of coaster names, but I don't cringe or correct people when I hear it either.

People here in central PA say some pretty silly sounding things too. They say creek as "krik" with a short e sound. They call a sub sandwich a "Hogie". they yell, "Squal de tars", anytime someone is pulling out of the driveway. I do not say these things, but I am not better than those that do.

Mullets are a different story though.

^ So the moral of that post is:

Correct grammar is not important, however looks are.

Nice.

Now I'm off to eat a hoagie by the crick. Then I'll squal mah tars on the way down to Picksburgh to see the Stillers play with yinz...

...but I'm not taking my buddy with the mullet - he's embarassing.

I didn't know you spoke hillbilly in Pennsylvania Gonch. :)

Just carrying on a stereotype. :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Not quite the moral I was going after, Mr. Gonch. But that was really funny.

I put the mullet thing in there to show that I have a sense of humor on the issue. I'm not super serious about a lot of things, contrary to what it may appear.

I forgot about "yinz". That's another funny thing people around here say.

Why do some of my posts make some people so uncomfortable?

Not really uncomfortable at all.

I just believe exactly the opposite. Whatever stupid shape is on your head is meaningless, the words coming out of your mouth represent your thoughts and the quality of those thoughts. Somehow one seems vastly more important to me and it's not hairstyle.

Yes, Chitown - in western PA hillbilly is quite prominent. The best part is that people around here make "west virginia" jokes.

Sweet, sweet irony, I delight in your warm secure glow.

While quite annoying, the "the" doesn't really bother me too much, but of course I rarely (if ever) hear it in this neck of the woods. That being said, I recall a TV special prefacing every name they mentioned with it, and that got very old, very fast. ;)

yea it only bothers me when the "the" really obviously doesn't belong in front of the name. For example, I hear people say the top gun, the roar, or the X...but is doesn't annoy me if someone says the deamon, or the Vortex because they are natural there.

TOP TEN in no particular order: Nemesis (Alton), Goliath, Riddlers Revenge, X (SFMM), GhostRider, Xcellorator(Knotts), Medusa, Roar! (SFMW), Top Gun (PGA) Giant Dipper (SCBB)
