Texas Tornado to Ohio

There are rumors going around that someone broke their neck on the Texas Tornado, I'm guessing on the opening day (and only day of operation) in 2001. I have never heard this. Is it really true?

I think we're missing the big picture here with this ride. There was a reason it didn't run down in Houston. From what I've heard from those who rode it, the OTSRs on that thing are downright awful and could potentially hurt people. If they simply move the ride to a new location and don't address the issues that kept it closed, I wouldn't want that thing in my backyard. SFWoA has enough rides that don't operate regularly.

It would cool in the Power Dive area at SFGAm.
No, the ride did not break somebody's neck while at SFAW. The issues with the brutal OTSRs are true, however.

Ain't that the truth!

It's so crazy to see people rave about a coaster that is known to hurt peoples spine due to it's too intense layout...
Isn't that a little.... sick?
Would you all e.g. also go on the Chrystal Beach Cyclone if it was still operating?
It's not the layout; it's the restraints.

Don't feed the troll...

Well, excuse me...

I wish everyone would stop *trying* to be something, shouting that at everyone who may not understand something (there are expections though). Superman (I feel stupid calling someone that) may not know the real reasons why the Tar-nah-da' was painful. So please...

It is??? Where? Where?

-'Playa

(who isn't even kidding a little bit)

The CPlaya 100--6 days, 9 parks, 47 coasters, 2037 miles and a winner.....LoCoSuMo.

It needs to go to Enchanted Village up here in the NW. It would be a great addition and as the star attraction in the park.

-----------------
84 coasters and counting

Being one of the last few to ride it before it was shut down, I really wouldn't want it in my park unless they came up with a new version 3 of the restraints. I think they are, but I can't say for sure and I don't know the specifics. Maybe they'll redesign the trains to resemble runaway trolley cars too, based on where it's probably going.

Well if it goes to SFWOA I will make sure that we go through with our plans to go to SFWOA on our Ohio coaster trip. (we being my father and I)

Go to Ohio!

Can you say SFMM's secret record-breaking weapon?

'Playa, you KNOW I already started a *stupider* rumor about SFMM's record-breaker......it's where Shockwave's going, so they can have 17 next year.....;). Then they could have the best and the worst of the Arrow "triplets"...you can find me in the line for Viper, even if SW *does* have a shorter line.....and it would...(*will*)?

OK, sorry for being a little flamy about the Thriller/Tornado, but I was hurt on this ride and I know I'm not the only one.
The restraints are definitely not the only problem: The restraints have to hold your body in a postion so it doesn't get harmed in the places where this ride puts more Gs on you than you should experience being a human being with an s-curved spine, invertebral discs, etc. namely the entry of the two small loops and the transition between first and second inversion.
The only thing that I can say is that I was hurt on this ride, and I rode it without OTSR that everybody claims are responsible for the pain.
I know many people have been able to ride it without notable injury, and that's fine, I'm glad you had a great time, but it's still a dangerous layout, and that's dangerous as in dangerous and not as in 'Thriller'.

Most of Anton's coasters pull 6.5 Gs, did you get hurt on them too?

Please say this is coming to the Bay Area, we really need it!

It's not only a question how many Gs, it's also a question of how the force is applied to your body.

Actually, I got smacked over sideways while riding DP's Laser in the transition from vertical loop #2 to the horizontal helix. My reaction was, "Whoa! Cool!" but if you have previous back injuries, that might not be so cool.

Speaking of back/neck stuff, I totaled my car slamming into this addled 75-year old who blew through a red light a couple weeks back. It slammed my knees into the dash and my neck was very slightly sore a couple days afterward. My reaction was definitely not "Whoa! Cool!" but as far as pain goes....I pull more muscles in my back working out at the gym than I did shortening my car six inches.

True. They really aren't long enough to cause damage. In short amounts the body can withstand great amounts of Gs. After a while, it does take a serious toll on the body (like fighter jet ejections.....last I heard if you have to eject twice you're grounded because of the damage done to your body) On a Discovery special about Gs, a fellow (scientist studying Gs) back in the 40s or 50s hit took a whopping 40+ Gs for a split second. Now both his retnas detached, both his lungs collapsed, and many of his bones shattered, but he survived and was fixed up. ....
