Talon Grip of nothing

When I was at Dorney Park I got the pleasure of standing in line for about 2 hours, and then thought I would ride one of the best inverted coasters in the world. Well let me tell you that this is a fun inverted but not anywhere near what it was hyped up to be. I mean Alpengiest, Top Gun:The Jet Coaster, and Dueling Dragons where way funner. Talon just seemed so basic. It was like Raptor, but duller...way duller. I don't have anything against people who like Talon, but it just wasn't my favorite... by a long shot!

Thanks for your enlightening us with your opinion. I haven't had the pleasure to ride Talon, but it looks like an amazing creation to me. But who knows, maybe B&M just don't have it anymore. I'd be interested to hear a few other opinions.

Have we gotten this spoiled?

The following statement is true.
The preceding statement is false.
I haven't rode it but not many inverted coasters get as much promotion as this one. Ive seen the design and pics and it looks pretty basic.

Hello....I am known at CP (and by closest friends and family) as Raptor Jo. Not only am I a Raptor freak during the season but during Halloweekends I get the pleasure of being a ride op on Raptor too. I finally got my long anticipated ride(s) (10 of them) on Raptor's brother "Talon" last Thursday. The longest wait we had (due to a puke) was 20 minutes. I'm sorry you were disappointed in Talon..I ADORED it, as did my b/f and both my kids. My B&M inverted experience is "limited" but I really did love Talon and even admit liking it better than Raptor. I loved how quiet it was, how fast it was and that there was actually airtime, something it's older brother is missing.
That's JMHO...I LOVED Talon and think B&M are the pinnacle of coaster designers (I also LOVED Medusa and my all time new (non invert) fav is Nitro :))

Why listen to others opinions?

Ride it for yourself, and make your own..
It's fine to have an opinion like MagnumForce, he stated it very well and constructively. I don't think that it's very fair to say though that B&M has lost it's touch just from one coaster, that seems a little spoiled.

If you wanna dis me, then go knit a seater... or somethin' like that...
I rode Talon on opening day and was very disapointed so Magnum Force your not the only one disapointed.
It's become a fairly known opinion that later B&Ms run a bit too smoothly and don't have the intensity of their earlier work, so I don't think it's an unfair statement at all. And I wanted to hear other opinions beacuse I *won't* be riding it anytime soon. Hope that clears things up.

I rode Talon and loved it. what speed around those turns! Of course, the front seat is always the best ride............*grin*
I think Talon is the best inverted coaster out there! I'll admit that it isn't AS intense as some of the others, but it is pretty intense, IMO.
I come close 2 blacking out on the Immelman and Inclined spiral. Oh, and what other inverted coaster has an inclined spiral like that? Talon is not "basic", it is very unique! It is a very thrilling and fun ride! It doesn't even come close 2 being dull! I think it lived up 2 all of the hype, + more! It's a great high speed ride all the way! It never lets up! I wouldn't be surprised if it made it onto NAPHA'a top 10 next year.

P.S. I've been on Alpengeist, Montu, GB, B:TR at SFGAdv & SFMM. And I think Talon is better than all of them!

Talon ROCKS! Peace Out!
DorneyJunkie, is it really that hard to write out words like "to" and "plus?" I'll reserve my opinion on Talon until I ride it. But for Raptor Jo to say it's better than CP's mean green twisting machine, it's got to be something special!
I found it to be very tame (see my forum about B&M's loss of intensity vs. earlier rides). And to add insult to injury Magnum Force, we waited one train to ride at 1:00 in the afternoon!

"Way funner." There's an opinion you can trust.

I was rather disappointed when I rode Talon, it wasn't "g-force" material, otherwise too tame.

Steel Force+ me= floating airtime!
When we went on a PA trip for our famliy vacation and i got to ride both Talon and the Great Bear and Talon is way better than the Great Bear but it's not as good as raptor but is still a great ride.
B&M haven't made a bad invert yet, but some are better than others - Talon is not one of them.

I've ridden all of the major B&M inverts, and I think Talon was my least favorite. The design looks good, but fails to deliver. No theming, little landscaping, nothing new!

You waited two hours for Talon? Wow... Was the waterpark closed or something? Was it Allentown Day at Dorney? I mean, man. Our group never waited more than ten minutes for it. While we found that amazing, that's just the way it was.

I think Talon is one of the most forceful coasters I've ridden. The bottom of the loop on both sides, the immelman, and the helices are some of the closest places I've come to blacking out on a coaster, period.

I agree 2 hours for Talon? I have been reading trip reports on Dorney Park and people have been saying it has been a walk or a 15minute wait at the most. It had to been a realy busy day for a 2 hour wait. The only longest wait for an inverted was Raptor at Cedar Point which is reasonable to say at least 2 hrs. I will be going to Dorney August 19-26 you will be able to here my review on Dorney under the trip reports. But 2 hours??

Inverted coming soon to Valleyfair!
For what it is worth, I'll give a counter opinion... In my experinece with Inverteds (Talon, Montu, Great Bear, Dueling Dragons Fire & Ice), I place Talon at the top. Great mix of intensity, pacing, visuals, and aestitics.

Montu is good, but there are some dull parts
Great Bear is good but short
Dragons are both short and bad paced (too fast).

And a 2 hour wait? Did both a front seat ride and a middle seat ride in about 40 minutes (and that includes a slowly and leisurly walk down the exit ramps and back to the start of the line).

Personally, I count Talon as a great coaster. (Translation for some... its "way funner" than the others I have ridden).
