Talon continues to rise over Allentown

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Winter can be such an ugly time for coaster enthusiasts who don't live in Southern California or Florida. The fine folks at Dorney have been nice enough so far to offer us a play-by-play of the construction of Talon, their new inverted B&M coaster. God bless Walter, Claude and the Internet.

Check out the construction photos on the official Dorney Park site.

You just gotta love that color scheme!
The more B&Ms , the better.

The drop was completed in no time today. You just gotta love what Cedarfair has done with Dorney Park over last couple of seasons.

Even though I really don't like B&M, this ride looks fun

All I can say is good for Dorney. I've never seen any park put the actual drawings on the Web. Looks like I've got to start planning on going to Allentown.

The curve on the first drop seems to swing to a greater angle than most of the B&M inverteds. I love this part of their rides.
I love B&M!
I love Dorney!
Knott's, WoF, and VF just keep hoping :) And as for Hershey......eat your heart out ;) I can't wait to return to work at Dorney this summer. I worked at Funzone Foods, right on the new Midway, Talon will be right behind our stand :)
I can't wait to sit in that back row on the far right.

One word......DROOOOL! Man, I can't wait for 2001. I do like the drop on that thing. Especially when it gets close to the ground.

Good for Dorney, and CF. Rather than keeping their new stuff so hush-hush, they put it on display. Almost like saying "Here's what we got, now try and top that!"

So you want a coaster in your backyard? I hope you have a big backyard.
Looks like an inverted "Mantis" to me
Compare the first drop to batman's or montu's. it seems as though the first 90 degrees of the turn are at the top of the drop, and then the second 90 degrees or so are where the drop off occurs, which will make the drop feel more like a montu-raptor hybrid. looks delicious. hopefully this ride will be completely aggresive like alpie or montu, unlike those durn floorless peices of garbage of recent memory.

Oh yeah, i love the color scheme too.
This Is Going To Be SWEAT!!!!!!!
Awesome! The first drop is identical to Top Gun's (Carowinds) first drop. Top Gun's drop is absolutely incredible, better than on any other inverted ive been on. Talon's drop will be taller than Top Gun's also so it should be sweet.
Seems like forever but Talon is taking shape and looking good. I can't wait until I ride it next year it's going to be my first inverted coaster, and rightfully it's going to be at my favorite park.

Talon is gonna rock, roll, and take its toll!
Finally PA gets another B&M invert. Now we have more than Ohio! Each only an hour and a half from my house! :)

This roller coaster does look tight. Even I want to ride it. I just want to know what is going to happen when it needs to be repainted.
